I reckon that the novelty would wear off pretty quickly, tbh. Also think it’s all well and good talking about Ohtani and the best hitters, but there aren’t a lot of those spread around the leagues. fukk, imagine having to sit through someone like Adam Dunn having the opportunity to chalk up MORE than 222 s/os in a season, or whatever his record number is.

I don’t like the idea of it, but I think I probably best start getting used to it.

Rob fukking Manfred. Jesus Christ :scust:

I get where you’re coming from, and I do understand how it would be a positive change for some, but I don’t think it’s something I’m gonna be able to get on board with unless it turns out to be some sort of revelation in action.

Not that this will be a problem for quite a few people, but it completely fukks stats, and whilst there have obviously been a number of changes throughout the history of the leagues, the base premise was the same, so comparing pitchers / hitters etc from different eras was broadly possible.

it’s also got Manfred’s seal of approval, so it’s got to be dumb, right?!

And thank the Lord for the bit in bold. Halleluja!

Baseball stats been out of whack for over 100 years lol

It was seasons with a 4 strike out counts

Pitchers having 60 starts

Mounds being rasied

No negros

Only 2 teams make the playoffs

Changes to the baseball

Steroids

No interleague

Etc…

We’re just not gonna find any middle ground on this golden bat, I think!! We’re probably at completely different ends of the spectrum on it.

As said, I’ll probably have to get used to it, and hope for the best about it.

Golden Bat is a stupid idea and the biggest gimmick to be attached to baseball since the Indians had Ten Cent Beer Night in 1974.

It completely destroys the integrity of the game.

I bet you wouldn’t let blacks in too being it would ruin the integrity to some:mjpls:
I would never take that position.

But you have a bunch of dumb asses in the TLR forum who think integration as a whole was a net negative for the black community. Feel free to stir the pot and make that thread over there.

See how it goes.

No you don't have to cater to whatever stupid shyt some Gen-Z dipshyt might care about.

What you have to do is create a more fun environment and allow players' personalities to shine through so you can build narratives to create hype, drama, and interest.

There's a fukkin reason the NFL doesn't have to introduce some goofy shyt like a 5 point drop kick field goal to reach young fans.

And on top of that, for anyone wanting to claim it's the same as the pinch hitter rule -- that rule comes with a trade off. You have to lose the player originally in the lineup. This bullshyt Golden Bat idea has no trade off. It's fukking stupid.

A friend told me that Juan Soto informed the Yankees they will have the last look at trying to sign him.

I haven't seen any news articles confirming this. But I would be surprised if this was true.
