man, people are bored until the game on monday. not sure what to do in the offseason other than look at the XFL/USFL merger and see what alumni college players are on the roster
don't they have those intermural football club sports for football? put those games on ESPN and give those random tryhards some NIL money, white wide receivers and DBs and all, like a development league within the college just to see who can develop themselves into actually making it into the actual football team
also, why does football still have to be played in the fall like it's the 1800s? we invented indoor arenas and air conditioning since then, so we should move football games in the spring time instead of just having a long ass summer break between spring training and the fall game -- the build up doesn't even make sense for television of gathering interest in the spring for standouts, and then forgetting about football and going batshyt crazy for summer break, and then build up hype again with the kick off bowls
given that spring practice builds up the season, spring football training should be moved to the fall when kids enter school and then have a fall scrimmage game to build up the season prior to winter exams and winter break, and then the season should start after winter break given that it doesn't even snow anymore with this weird weather we're having, and then having an extended playoffs held after the spring exams into summer vacation that doesn't interfere with winter exams would make more sense for players to make the grades and not have football interfere with schoolwork because the playoffs could be held when they just get out of school for summer break...also with global warming and all that, playing football in august weather especially in the south is gross around swampy areas
track and field could be moved to the fall so the weather actually cools down when the track meet stakes are higher, and move baseball completely as summer sport, so players can do track and field in the fall, then basketball in the winter, football in the spring, baseball in the summer and have scholarships cover the seasons for when players enroll into school, so that preppy white kids playing baseball can force colleges to not half-ass the summer classes by inviting guest teachers and have the regular teachers who already are sleepwalking because of tenure actually try to teach for classes instead of just focused on research....there has been a bottleneck on teachers anyway because there are too many people graduating with degrees and not enough positions when the incumbent teachers don't retire so schools already lower teacher's pay because of excess supply and limited demand -- make some summer sports and athletes that demand summer classes to open up the reason for summer teachers to not be ass
if the NFL also move to the spring, which is a huge undertaking, then the NFL draft could be held in the fall and players can actually condition for going pro all summer after they graduate without classes instead of having the NFL combine and training to be in the middle of the school year....and then move the XFL/USFL to the fall for those kids who didn't make the roster to prove themselves prior to the NFL season begin, so they can earn a XFL/USFL paycheck in the fall and then maybe an NFL contract in the spring right after
none of this shyt would ever happen and it's wishful thinking, but this would make a lot of sense to avoid the snow games for the northern teams because the weather should get better when the stakes are higher, but instead we have tradition from the 1800s ivy leagues
