He does. He can’t get away with gambling on defense if he doesn’t have a strong defender alongside him and he won’t to start out. He has potential but the first 2 years are gonna be tough.
When you’re a strong defensive rebounder and can pick pocket and get in the passing lanes and have good ball instincts you bring value as a defender as a PG

Nobody gives a fukk about them corny ass interviews

They be asking players dumb shyt like if your friend got arrested would you lie to get him out :shaq2:

He’s the favorite because he’s the best playmaker in the draft at 6’8 with the most star potential and has been playing ahead of his age level since he was 13

Yeah, that was their rationale behind teams wanting to take him #1. This draft has no sure fire stars anyways. Why not swing for the fences and take the 6'8 guy with passing ability? He's not efficient though, but neither is Anthony Edwards

Something else interesting that Givony said during the podcast. His top 3 for this draft would be LaMelo, Okongwu and Okoro.

Yeah, I don't see it either. They said he was the "most NBA ready" player on this podcast.

How much time do you think the #1 team in this case has to wait on Ball? (Or anyone really?)

All those teams up top don’t have the kind of time to wait for guys to maybe look good. That’s why Detroit and NY are appealing. They can afford to wait and put all their resources into his development.

As for Obi, I maintain that he’ll wind up like Antawn Jamison.

This LaMelo shyt makes no sense to me. Maybe I'll be dead wrong and people will up my posts to clown in a few years but this kid is not that athletic, he's frail, has poor shooting fundamentals (and also shot terribly in Australia), trash defensively and will struggle in the half court.

How the fukk is all that the ingredients for a #1 pick? Sounds like some shyt bozo @smitty22 would say about another osu qb bust in the making. :martin:

At least Lonzo is athletic and terrific defensively.

Dude's best assets are his ball handling, passing and finishing ability. He'll be good.

He has poor shooting fundamentals?

This is true but so did his brother who transformed himself to a 38% 3PT on 6 attempts last season. It can be worked on he can create his shot and he does have range, his mechanics are also better out catch and shoot situations. His Australia sample size is small. He won’t be an efficient shooter out the gate but he’ll have gravity and be streaky like a Marcus Smart.

The small sample size argument for his shooting seems hollow, because correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't he been a horribly inefficient shooter on every team he's played on? Eventually we just have to call a spade a spade right?

The last college upperclassman I can remember going top 5 off the strength being the most NBA ready prospect is Thomas Robinson :francis:

That was their rationale, not mine. I personally like Ball, but he has too many deficiencies to suddenly become an efficient player. He's a project for sure.

The Wolves have been terrible for so long (besides that one season with Jimmy recently) and I don't think any of these guys will suddenly turn them into contenders.

If they like him and KAT likes him, he's theirs.
