Listened to Lowe Post podcast with Zach Lowe and Givony/Schmitz from DraftExpress/ESPN

Real tidbits from the pod:
  • Bulls likes Lauri more than Wendell. Lauri is more untouchable in trades. They like LaMelo. It will take #4 and WCJ to move up to #1. Lowe thinks this new front office will likely stay pat.
  • Most execs think LaMelo is a no-brainer at #1
  • No one wants to put a 2021 1st rounder in trades. 8 guys in the mix for top 3 next year.
  • Warriors values their pick from Wolves next year more than #2 this year.
  • Lowe has spoken to execs who compare Anthony Edwards to Dion Waiters.
  • Schmitz: LaMelo will have trouble in half-court and to get his shot off. Anthony Edwards will be able to score from anywhere.
  • Givony: Questions about Anthony Edwards's lack of motor, skills and competitiveness. Questions about Edwards turning down opportunities from USA Basketball, EYBL, etc. Questions about his conditioning at a pro day that was created for him. Doesn't think Edwards will reach his potential.
  • Killian Hayes's range is huge. Could be #4 to out of the lottery altogether.
  • Killian Hayes was a test case for his European team. His team let him do everything and makes mistakes. It's an unathletic, low level German league team trying to attract young players to their new facilities.
  • Lowe says teams above #8 have called him about Patrick Williams.
  • Patrick Williams seems to be moving up the board without doing anything at all.
  • Givony doesn't have Williams in his personal top 10 and thinks it would be a mistake to take him top 10.
  • Tyrese Haliburton's range is #4-8.
  • Lots of chatter about how great Blake Griffin has looked this off-season.
  • Givony thinks the lowest Obi Toppin will go is #8. Leon Rose wants Obi Toppin.
  • Givony compares Obi Toppin to John Collins.

so lamelo bombed his interviews last week and his stock was dropping all the sudden where he could go as low as 7 or 8 and now he’s a no brainer at #1 based on what?

Nobody gives a fukk about them corny ass interviews

They be asking players dumb shyt like if your friend got arrested would you lie to get him out :shaq2:

He’s the favorite because he’s the best playmaker in the draft at 6’8 with the most star potential and has been playing ahead of his age level since he was 13

This LaMelo shyt makes no sense to me. Maybe I'll be dead wrong and people will up my posts to clown in a few years but this kid is not that athletic, he's frail, has poor shooting fundamentals (and also shot terribly in Australia), trash defensively and will struggle in the half court.

How the fukk is all that the ingredients for a #1 pick? Sounds like some shyt bozo @smitty22 would say about another osu qb bust in the making. :martin:

At least Lonzo is athletic and terrific defensively.

I completely agree

He probably has the worst shot selection I’ve ever seen in my life

I’m nervous about Edwards too...

This all seems like teams trying to create leverage or pump up the players they don’t want hoping somebody will bite

Because these are myths around his play that y’all parrot.

He’s not that athletic and he’s frail?

He doesn’t have to be a freak athlete he’s a 6’8 PG. He’s also not completely un-athletic. He has good open floor acceleration, a quick first step, and good acrobatics and body control. He’s also getting stronger and stronger and has shown he can finish above the rim in space. He’s not Kyle Anderson.

He has poor shooting fundamentals?

This is true but so did his brother who transformed himself to a 38% 3PT on 6 attempts last season. It can be worked on he can create his shot and he does have range, his mechanics are also better out catch and shoot situations. His Australia sample size is small. He won’t be an efficient shooter out the gate but he’ll have gravity and be streaky like a Marcus Smart.

Trash defensively?

No, that will be a strong point for him especially as he bulks up and increases his engagement. His size is going to be a plus that will allow him to switch across multiple positions. He’s very good at backcourt pickpocket and sneaky steals, jumping the passing lanes, and rebounding.

if he stinks defensively at the 1, how is he ever gonna be able to guard multiple positions?

If he goes to Chicago, there’s at least a chance he can be something other than disappointing because Karnisovas just left a team who is built around 2 bad defenders, and even then it’s gonna take a couple of years before you see any progress.

He's skinny as fukk with no leg muscle. That kid's getting bullied as soon as he steps on an NBA floor. :comeon:
