:beli: Well another Raider got arrested again, this time Desmond Bryant.
Raiders defensive tackle Desmond Bryant was arrested early this morning in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

The Miami-Dade Corrections website says Bryant was arrested early this morning for criminal mischief. No further information about what led to the arrest has been provided, and a call from PFT to the Miami-Dade Corrections department was not answered.

A rumor, apparently starting with Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Twitter, began circulating this morning about Dez Bryant of the Cowboys having been arrested, but that is not the case. Dallas’s Dez Bryant simply got mixed up with another NFL player who has a similar name. Dez Bryant took to Twitter and noted the “false rumors,” adding that he had been working out in Dallas this morning, not getting arrested in Miami.

Desmond Bryant has played for the Raiders for four years since signing with them as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard in 2009. He played in all 16 games and started eight last season, and he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on March 12.

Heard today that they're going to move Taiwan Jones back to DB/CB. I guess that was his original position at EWU but the coaches switched him to RB after upperclassmen at the RB position graduated.

Rework of Carson Palmer deal eyed

The Oakland Raiders will try to restructure quarterback Carson Palmer's contract, according to league sources.

The Raiders are scheduled to pay the 33-year-old Palmer $13 million this season.

He passed for 4,018 yards with 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last season for the Raiders, who acquired the quarterback from the Cincinnati Bengals during the 2011 season for a 2012 first-round draft pick and a second-round selection in the 2013 draft.

The Bengals picked cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick with the 17th overall selection acquired from the Raiders in last year's draft.

Oakland also is trying to design packages to give quarterback Terrelle Pryor a chance to get on the field and to help the team win. New offensive coordinator Greg Olson said earlier this month that it will be important to see what Pryor can do during offseason workouts and minicamps to get a better sense of what the Raiders have at quarterback.

The Raiders spent most of last season with a more traditional offense with Palmer under center. Pryor got onto the field for a few plays late in the season before finally getting the chance to start in the final game at San Diego with Palmer sidelined by cracked ribs and a bruised lung.

Pryor went 13-for-28 for 150 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 24-21 loss to the Chargers. He also ran for 49 yards and a score and looked more than capable running the offense.

Mike Holmgren would be intriguing in Oakland - ESPN

Holmgren would be intriguing in Oakland

The Oakland Raiders have been looking for a new leader of the organization for months and their conversations with Mike Holmgren indicate the team is serious about trying to get better in all facets of the organization.

John Clayton and I are reporting Raiders owner Mark Davis is considering hiring Holmgren to lead the organization as a whole. Holmgren has been to the Raiders’ facilities. At this point, he is considered a candidate for a position.

Holmgren is currently in Europe. There isn’t a timeline for the hire. NFL executive Ray Anderson and former Madison Square Garden president Scott O’Neal have been linked to a leadership role in Oakland.

Securing a new stadium is a major goal for the Raiders and a new leader is expected to be a big part of pursuing that.

If Holmgren joins the team, he’d certainly have a role on the football side because that is his background. Holmgren, a former head coach in Green Bay and Seattle, was the team president in Cleveland from 2010-12. He left the Browns late last year after an ownership change.

The Browns weren’t a winner under Holmgren’s watch, but he did help get the team's finances together and the team drafted well the past two years under his leadership.

Holmgren, 64, is from San Francisco and he wants to be on the West Coast. He said he was open to coaching this year, but he didn’t get any looks from the eight teams looking for a coach. If Holmgren comes to Oakland, the entire team would be under his umbrella. It would create an interesting dynamic on the football side.

The team hired Reggie McKenzie (who was in Green Bay with Holmgren) last year to be the general manager. He is in charge of the football operations. I’m sure Holmgren and McKenzie would work well together, but there’s no doubt there would be another football mind in the building. That is undeniable. So a power structure would have to be established. I don’t see Holmgren joining a team with which he wouldn't have a powerful role.

Also, the addition of Holmgren could hover over coach Dennis Allen. Holmgren is on the record as saying he’d coach again. What if Oakland, which went 4-12 last season, starts slowly again? Would Holmgren consider naming himself coach? That looming possibility could be uncomfortable for Allen.

There are a lot of reasons to like this potential partnership. Holmgren has a great NFL track record and he has won before. But there would be plenty of new questions if he joins the team as well.

Mike Holmgren discusses leadership position with Oakland Raiders, according to sources - ESPN

Sources: Raiders eye Mike Holmgren

The Oakland Raiders have been talking to former Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren about a leadership position within the organization, according to two sources.

There's plenty to like about a potential Mike Holmgren-Raiders union, but it would also raise plenty of questions, Bill Williamson writes. Blog

Holmgren would be a natural candidate because of his relationship with Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie. Both worked for the Packers.

For several months, the Raiders have been looking at potential new leaders for the team. They have been talking to Ray Anderson, the NFL's senior vice president of football operations.

According to a source, Holmgren has visited the Raiders to talk about the position. Currently, he is on vacation in Europe.

There is no timetable for the Raiders to find a top front office executive.
Part of the job would be to lead the quest for a new stadium. Holmgren ran the Cleveland Browns until an ownership change led to his release from the team at the end of the season.

what has holmgren done in cleveland???

i would love to see ahmad bradshaw in the backfield

exactly, not sure what holmgren would bring here but more branden weedens and colt mccoys.

as much as i love bradshaw's skillset and toughness, having both him and DMAC is a recipe for more Mike Goodsen ... it's gonna be a while til they have the pieces they need
