So you think Pryor better right now?
Te'o seems like a cool dude and a positive ass guy, but we ain't gonna use a 4th draft pick on him. I think he gets picked late in the 1st. I still hope we are able to get Jones from Florida. That dude is a fukking beast.Reggie McKenzie must focused on McClain after latest arrest
Quarterback Carson Palmer and the offensive line held center stage for Oakland GM Reggie McKenzie through the past few weeks as the team prepares their resources for an important offseason. That was until he got a grim reminder of how bad things have gotten on the Raiders defense. Middle linebacker Rolando McClain was tagged to become a fixture for the Silver and Black for the next decade given the talent he had. Sadly, like many pro athletes he has let bad decisions rule his life. The latest came when he got arrested by Alabama police for violating a window tint code and then giving a false name when questioned. This incident comes on the heels of a two-game suspension for a dispute with Raiders head coach Dennis Allen and a guilty misdemeanor charge for reckless endangerment back in November. If any player represents the need for change in Oakland it's McClain. Given McKenzie will hold the 4th overall pick in the draft, will he use it to get things pointed up on defense?
Te'o takes hit in NFL draft stock but Notre Dame season still viable
Initial thoughts are to use the high pick on a big name player like left tackle Luke Joeckel or a defensive lineman but the Raiders must think hard about their situation. The team is still lacking in many areas for talent on the 4th overall pick can fetch a nice price for the right NFL team. If they were to trade down they could collect more picks for McKenzie while at the same time having their eyes on a particular player who could change the culture on their defense. Most experts and fans now remember Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o for his forgettable showing in the BCS national championship against Alabama. The rough game overshadows a season where he came within a hair of winning the Heisman trophy and getting the Fighting Irish back into contention for big bowl games. Combined with some questions about his athletic potential it's believed he could fall not only out of the top 15 but out of the first round of the draft. Only teams who can ignore his performance in the championship game will hold serve on that outcome. Oakland is certainly one of those teams. Te'o is the polar opposite of McClain. He plays with infectious energy, offers great leadership and makes plays all over the field. Elite athlete or not his impact on the Raiders defense would become immediate the second he entered the locker room.
Spending such a valuable draft pick on Manti Te'o sounds too risky for Oakland Raiders fans but after the fiasco with Rolando McClain it reinforces the value of character. Reggie McKenzie must not only overturn a roster but a culture this offseason.

Pryor working on his weaknesses the entire off season, watch him on the league next year..
I hope
You guys think they will give Saunders the OC job?
Running back Darren McFadden is a big part of the Raiders plans moving forward in 2013, general manager Reggie McKenzie said Thursday.
McKenzie, meeting with beat writers for the first time since Nov. 30, brushed aside the notion that McFadden could be moved entering the final season of his contract following a disappointing season.
“I’m confident Darren’s going to play his last season, regardless of what’s out there,’’ McKenzie said. “We have no decision to do anything with Darren.’’
McFadden gained 707 yards on 216 carries, averaging 3.3 yards per attempt, as the Raiders dropped to 28th in rushing after gaining more yards on the ground than any team in the NFL from 2010-2011.
The Raiders switched to a zone blocking systems under recently-fired offensive coordinator Greg Knapp after playing more gap and power power schemes under Hue Jackson.
While McKenzie said execution was more of an issue than scheme, he also said, “It’s obvious Darren is much better on certain types of plays. That goes without saying. That’s how you’ve got to do it.’’
McKenzie said coach Dennis Allen was closing in on hiring a new offensive coordinator, although he declined to give a time line. The Raiders have talked with former Rams head coach Mike Martz and McKenzie confirmed speaking with Norv Turner and Marc Trestman, both of whom now have other jobs.
Former Jacksonville quarterbacks coach Greg Olson has also been reported as a candidate.
The Raiders also will hire a special teams coordinator, a linebackers coach and an offensive line coach.
The staff leaves for the Senior Bowl Saturday, where they’ll coach the North team, with practices starting Monday.
McKenzie touched on several subjects in a 42-minute meeting with local writers. Some quick hits:
– Right guard Mike Brisiel had ankle surgery following the season. McKenzie said he played with the injury all season and that it hampered his performance. Khalif Barnes (triceps) also had surgery.
– McKenzie was pleased with the job coach Dennis Allen did during the season in terms of changing the culture of the locker room and practice sessions and setting expectations. He liked team morale and the way the team competed _ especially on defense _ during December following an awful November.
– The latest medical reports on Carson Palmer is good. McKenzie expects him to be ready for the offseason.
– McKenzie did not get into specific transactions, but hinted it would have been difficult to cut Rolando McClain during the season because of the salary cap. McKenzie is expected to be released when it’s more beneificial to the Raiders financial bottom line.
– All moves will be made with the long-term in line.
“We’re not trying to hurry up to win one or two games and mortgage the possibility of winning 10 more,” McKenzie said. “We’re just going to build it the right way and make good, sound decisions.”
– McKenzie said he considered Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o a first-round talent but is going to wait and see how his current story unfolds before forming any judgement regarding how will affect him in the draft.
– Defensive tackle Richard Seymour and punter Shane Lechler, both scheduled for unrestricted free agency, have not necessarily been written off, but McKenzie said, “Everything’s predicated on money. You get guys that are used to making a set amount and they’re premiere players and you don’t know what other teams are going to throw out from a contract standpoint.”
– Regarding the change at offensive coordiantor, McKenzie said of Allen: “I was proud the way he identified the issues and attacked them. He didn’t just continue to run this offense and make it work, keep this guy, keep this guy- he evaluated it, said okay, he stood up, and said okay, we’re going to make a change.”
I swear if we trade T-Pry and he completely blows up else where!!!The Oakland Raiders are in need of upgrades across their entire roster. As John Madden said, the Raiders were playing with an empty cupboard in 2012. As a result, there has been a lot of talk about the Raiders attempting to collect draft picks this off-season due to having traded away their second and fifth picks for the upcoming draft.
Most of that talk has surrounded trading back in the first round in order to get more picks. Now, however, an unexpected turn of events has opened the door to a previously unexpected option for the Raiders. With Chip Kelly being announced as the new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, there has been a lot of talk about how Kelly will change the roster in order to fit his style.
Having Michael Vick at QB seems like it would be the perfect fit for Kelly, but Vick is getting older and has lost a step in terms of speed. As a result, there has been speculation as to where the next Eagles QB would come from, and the Oakland Raiders' back up Terrelle Pryor has been mentioned as one of the guys that Kelly might go after.
When Pryor was in high school, Kelly recruited him, trying hard to get the former Ohio State Buckeye to play for him in Oregon. On top of that, Pryor had a fairly impressive start to end the 2012 season that opened a lot of eyes to the potential for Pryor to be a starting caliber QB in the NFL.
If the Eagles are willing to give the Raiders good value for Pryor, do not be surprised if the eddy back up is traded for draft picks this off season.
So happy we got rid of this bum. Now watch the Broncos have the worst redzone offense now. Hopefully. The Broncos have hired former Raiders OC Greg Knapp as their quarterbacks coach, the team announced Friday.

Breaking news: Raiders hire Greg Olson to be their offensive coordinator, according to person familiar with the situation.
Steve Corkran ‏@CorkOnTheNFL
Greg Olson also coached some guy named Drew Brees when they were at Purdue. RB Steven Jackson had his best season in Olson's offense.
Steve Corkran ‏@CorkOnTheNFL
Greg Olson has six years' experience as an NFL offensive coordinator -- Lions, Rams and Buccaneers. Worked wonders with QB Josh Freeman.

Greg Olson shouldn't have any problem making it to Mobile in time to help Raiders coach the Senior Bowl. Practice starts next week.

Want more deep throws, more big-chunk plays? Greg Olson is your guy. Check out Rams stats from 2006 and Bucs from 2010. Olson the architect.

Greg Olson is bringing back the power blocking and downhill runs favored by RB Darren McFadden. Say good-bye to the zone-blocking scheme.
