I thought it was pretty apparent Nas was trying to cash in on The Sopranos hype at the time. That record aged horribly too.

Gods Stepson was good but it overall was NOT better than the original records...ESPECIALLY the Alchemist produced tracks...only songs flat out better was The Cross and Warriors Song...Get Down was on par but not better...and Last Real nikka Alive was on par but not better...I Can COULD'VE been better than the original cause the sample was crack but he fukked it up wit the drums...the original Made You Look was FLAT OUT better than 9ths version...he didn't even remake all the songs on God's Son...I still like God's Stepson...mixture of both those wouldve been a classic...

not to be disrespectful to my brothers of other races.... but i take with a grain a salt anyone who doesn't really live that hiphop life. Or really can decipher what Nas' talks about when reviewing his albums. If nas sampling melle mel is corny to you then I don't know what to say, you don't love hiphop. If you think a dope beat has to sound like bmf or need synthesizers you just aren't completely immersed in the culture. SOMEONE has to rep for the bboys... someone has to bless us with breakbeats. shyt is real, someone has to spit with a conviction in hiphop and be the journalist of hiphop fam and that person when it comes to rhymes is NaS. Lastly if you say NaS is boring you should really look at what excites you. If its just p*ssy,weed, & alcohol I say to you this... YOU ARE BORING. you are the simple one life is WAY bigger then that. Chastising someone for actually having something to say is kind of sad, and the music that people think is the shyt now will only get worst and worst because y'all don't recognize revolutionary music or support anyone that takes chances unless they have a million dollar pr campaign.
