One thing I also gotta say is, I see a lot of people praising an album at first and then two days later panning it. I wonder how people listen or view these these albums and if personal mood/decision influences you.

I think the vintage tracks are enough to give replay value because the modd/concept tracks are the ones that people dismiss after a while.

I'm listening to Life is Good now for the first time streaming and :what: was this dude listening to? His description of Queens Story makes no sense to me.

I don't think it's hate. I'm staring at my copy of life is good as I type. I think it's calling a spade a spade. He definitely is who he is. And what he isn't is the GOAT.
Why don't you give a list of emcees who career wise rank ahead of Nas all time?

I'll give you one to start who's had a better run at def jam since they both joined up.

Ghostface Killah. He has hit his mark way more than Nas. Even Big Doe Rehab, an album that seemed to get some flak, is able to go toe to toe with this Life Is Good album.

You can argue Ghost has the most consistently dope discography of any rapper ever, but he's never been a better emcee than Nas. Lol@Big Doe Rehab being in LIG's league.

Ghost has as many or more classic verses than Nas. He may not be as naturally gifted but he more than makes up for it in style, convincibility, passion, risks and comedy. Hs catalog slaying Nas' speaks to Nas underachieving given his ability.

There is no record on Big Doe Rehab that's as bad as the lullaby type duds found on Life Is Good.

Play Yapp City. Play Yolanda's House. Play tony Sigel. Play rec room therapy. Play I'll die for you.

Even his Chrisette Michelle joint knocks in true hip hop fashion harder than Nas' winehouse lullaby.

I'm as big a fan of Ghost as anyone. He's actually my 2nd or 3rd favorite emcee of all time depending on my mood. Nas definitely has more duds in his catalog than Ghost and Ghost has produced more consistently over time. But Ghost has never been a better emcee than Nas. Nas has failed to live up to his potential at many points in his career, but his emceeing ability has always been elite. In a vacuum of pure emceeing talent, Nas > Ghost by a wide margin.

You're entitled to your opinion, but the notion of BDR, which is a good album, being in the same league with LIG is laughable to me. LIG is an excellent album and the closest thing we'll see to a classic in this era. It's about a 4.5. BDR is about a 3.5. But you've made your opinion on LIG clear in this thread so there's no need to go into this any further.

It still might be interesting to hear who else you rank ahead of Nas all time since he's nowhere near the GOAT according to you.

So, By your count Ghost isnt as good an MC as AZ or Inspectah Deck either. He's actually better than both.

You've already decided LIG is classic? In two weeks you've figured ths out? THAT is laughable to me. I remember people said the same thing about all Kanyes albums, Be, WTT, that Clipse album etc.

I've expressed my issues with LIG. If you can rock to lullaby beats than by all means go head. Have at it. But don't begrudge Big Doe Rehab in the process when it employs the same clean, bigger budget sound sans the schmaltz.

As far as who I have ahead of Nas....id say most consistent acts as IMO Nas has been so erratic and frustrating and flat out bad 50% of the time he's REMOVED HIMSELF from the equation.

I don't even know what you're talking about, but I mentioned nothing of AZ or Inspectah Deck.

Learn to how to read. I said it's as close to a classic as you'll probably see in this era. I don't throw around the c word to describe every good album. There hasn't been an album I'd call a classic in probably about the last 12 years.

I've expressed my issues with LIG. If you can rock to lullaby beats than by all means go head. Have at it. But don't begrudge Big Doe Rehab in the process when it employs the same clean, bigger budget sound sans the schmaltz.

"Knocking in the whip" is not a necessary criterion for everyone who enjoys hip-hop. I like music that bangs, and I like some that doesn't have that element. Tribe and De La's first two albums, both bonafide classics, are trash if you make thumping in the car a requirement. LIG is introspective grown man music. The beats fit the themes perfectly to me.

And I didn't begrudge BDR, I said it's a good album. I said I'd rate it a 3.5 and that's a compliment to Ghost because his worst album is still a 3.5 to me.

As far as who I have ahead of Nas....id say most consistent acts as IMO Nas has been so erratic and frustrating and flat out bad 50% of the time he's REMOVED HIMSELF from the equation.
Imo Ghost is the only solo artist who you can argue has a better discography than him.

Big Mel, you already been on some "fukk nas" shyt time and time again on both this and the other forum. im not suprised you aint fukkin with LIG. its ok, you dont have to like it, you have stated your opinion countless times in this thread. we get it, nobody is tryna change your opinion.

as far as you sayin nas has a natural ability better than ghost, GTFOH, talent isn't natural, especially writing talent, it is something that people work at, nas included. the reason nas pen game is good is because he gives alot of effort to what he writes.

also, although you claim to have got LIG in the mail, I actually dont believe you have a physical copy of the album. show us the pic or shut the fukk up.

You straight killed your credibility with that last entry. So now Nas has the second best discography ever?

Shame on you.

I mentioned AZ and Deck because like Nas, they too reside in this "vacuum" of skill you spoke of that supposedly has Ghost being out rapped. But, like Nas theyve done much less with their abilities than Ghost has.

I talked about "knocking in the wip" many pages back in reference to Queens Story's lack of boom. That Roses, Stay & Cherry Wine have a schmaltzy, snoozy vibe to them is independent of that thought.

Lastly, you've showed more ignorance by proclaiming those de la and tribe albums lack thump. Go play Footprints. Go play oodles of o's. Go play plug tunin or potholes. One of the albums is called LOW END THEORY FOR fukkS SAKE!
