Roses is a 4? Really?

i thought it was great. and yes i give roses a 4. i'm not stuck on illmatic 18 years later. i could do without summer on smash, but the rest is either iight, good or great, to me at least.

illmatic is the gift and the curse for Nas.

Without illmatic, though, you have no Nas. Straight up. That album is ingrained in his DNA. Those records personify him.

The fact that some people can't see anything beyond his debut is just something he has to live with and something his fans have to understand.

He's released a lot of amazing stuff since illmatic. I don't really pay any attention to other people telling me he hasn't.

With that said, he's not perfect. Several of his albums have been underwhelming. He's made and released his share of wack records, too.

No matter what, though, when you look at his full body of work, he'll go down as one of the illest rappers to pick up a mic.

Of course it is..Illmatic is my fav Nas joint...but still...its wack how people are cause of it...

Have you played Queens Story in your vehicle? It's almost devoid of low end. Just an observation as I was playing the cd that arrived today in the mail while driving. I hadn't played the album since leak night so this was round 2.

I really don't care much about all that. "it don't knock in the whip" seems to be the criticism a lot of the music I like gets. it seems most of the time that just means there's not 808's all over the place like a fukkin DJ Magic Mike CD. Queens Story has drums, maybe you need to adjust your EQ

As for black bond, you don't see that as a spy vs. spy, James Bond type track? It sounds like a British 70s score.

Roses and Stay aren't muffin status? The chick on Roses sounds almost like that white chick from "i need a doctor'

I like Stay. I can vibe out to that shyt. it ain't a song for you and your peeps to get all hype to, but that don't mean it's a bad song

The EQ is fine. I'm not saying queens story is wack, just was really surprised it had no boom. I seriously thought my bass was off accidentally. Play it....you'll see.

I don't know man. I "liked" that album too but it fell out of rotation pretty fast and never returned. I don't generally like big budget hip hop....I see this life is good is more of that than I initially thought.

It's a good enough Nas album I suppose. I don't expect major things from him ever.
