The nba cup should be its own thing with it not being included with the regular season. The number of games stay the same (82 games) but it does not go into regular season W-L that way you can kill 2 birds with one stone you get a mini playoffs that is more impactful and the regular season wins now matter more.

Plus get rid of the play in gimmick.

Seems easy to implement but they wont do it...
so you want the NBA Cup to not count at all towards the standings?

Not sure the players would go for this.
I still like the league. But something needs to change the vibe is just too negative among fans and media right now. Would never see this in the NFL or MLB
MLB it happens a lot, but it usually comes from fans who don't really care about the sport. There are plenty of older heads who miss how the game used to be and can't understand why it can't still be that way, same way NBA fans are.

The issue with this is how do you sell foreign stars to an increasingly xenophobic American audience?

The NBA became what it did due to MJ, Magic, & Bird but it's time to switch to marketing teams. It'll be difficult and will take time but with the global growth of the game, it's just how it has to be at this point.

You can’t market basketball as a team sport when one player can change a team’s outcome and can do so much

This goes back to the days of Chamberlain

ESPN's packaging of the product is awful...from the pre-game shows, the lack of post game show, the overall commentating crews being new and dry.

TNT has Harlan & Eagle (2 of the top 3 lead commentators for the NBA), Inside obviously, decent color commentators (even Reggie isn't as bad as he used to be)....watching the NBA is far more enjoyable on TNT than ESPN...I'd even rather watch it on local broadcast & NBATV over ESPN at this point.
They will go all in on NFL coverage
