No, a lot of immigrants tend to be narcissistic, if they came here by choice. You have to understand, for one to leave his homeland(even his state in the u.s.a.), live in a different culture, and start from square one, it takes some sense of belief in yourself that is above average. At first this is a good thing, but if not kept in check it turns into narcissism. I personally believe this is why this country is so full of negative energy, especially in the major cities, its because of so many people who are narcissistic congregating in one place. This is why the children of a lot of immigrants either go along with their parents, and become just like them, or separate and don't have as close of a relationship with them like the ones who do get along well with them. The sad part is these kids end up being troubled as they grow up because of the pain of not feeling connected to their narcissistic family, but it will be seen as the child was rebellious, so that's why their life was harder. What's crazy is these are the kids who are the ones who should be admired, not the ones who followed their parents, because in order to go against the grain of doing wrong, you have to be a real good person!

The reason why most don't see this is because chances are they are codependents who wish to be like the narcissist. This is a major reason why President Trump got so many votes, a lot of whites come from narcissistic households, and are used to a white man who says how he feels, even if it is foul, as their "leaders". Why do you think so many white women voted for him, even after hearing "grab them by the p*ssy"?

Always look at what's behind the stats, images, not just what you see upfront. You should want to emulate people who show they are peaceful, empathetic, can defend themselves, and try to be upright. Once you just look at money, shyt goes down hill.

this is one of the most confusing and non-nonsensical posts I think I've ever read on here

what does narcissism have to do with success? wealth building? managing your finances? << these are legit questions I'm asking, not rhetorical ones.

this sounds more like a pet peeve rant than one based in facts or one even connected to the topic of discussion

Such an asinine, typical White talking point.

But, start your education here: Political power and the racial wealth gap - The Ezra Klein Show

AADOS worked hard and built successful cities post reconstruction. We had land. However, our ancestors were literally robbed of our land/homes, and run out of our cities. But, even discounting that, we weren't adequately compensated for the work we did do during slavery that the government promised us.

Building on top of the above, after all of that, and during Jim Crow, the government aided White families in building White wealth while at the same time stifling Black wealth building. Add to that Black soldiers were fighting in the wars yet could not receive the benefits of the GI bill after WWII which boosted many Whites into the middle class, i.e. further allowing White families/people to build wealth.

It is ignorant to say, "there is something wrong with Black culture", as it places the blame entirely on us without ever looking at history. It is White culture that has caused the dysfunction of Black culture you see today.

thank you for that lecture that we all got in middle school, but that didn't really negate my point.

here are some questions that will no doubt send you into a blind rage, but I'm asking out of sheer curiosity:

1) do nigerians typically covet name brand tennis shoes over their basic necessities?

2) same question for designer clothes

3) are nigerians flippant about their children's educations but want them to excel on the court/football/soccer fields?

let's just start with these three things. again, we're talking about wealth building, success and cultural attitudes.

and no, it's ignorant to argue that people that have been here for generations are being surpassed by africans that have been here for a decade, is all solely due to the all powerful and omniscient white man

who somehow magically can't seem to keep actual AFRICANS down, only african americans. :stopitslime:

It's only nonsense because like most of us, you weren't taught what real narcissism is. You claim it's because of African culture, but I differ in that thinking, its because of narcissism that educated people(school vs self taught) tend to have, and 40% of Africans who come here have a college degree, which aids in this narcissism. I bet the people who live in Nigeria or Ghana are not like those who come here, once you interact with them.

Narcissism has a lot to do with success because its what gives you the fire to be "successful", and is the reason why we call certain things being "successful".; If you look at the past you can see how we came to this era of narcissism being all over the place. The fact that we talk about who has what, what title they have, and how much they make, as being "successful" comes from this country turning narcissistic.

Wealth building is not about becoming a millionaire or to look rich, you build wealth so you don't have to work as hard, and to have that money be passed down. This means living a humble life, and not accumulating debt, but how many people you know who talk wealth building actually live humble, and keep their debt low? I'm not talking about people who actually do it, I'm talking about the ones who keep talking about the wealth they need to build, while spend it trying to look wealthy. You know how many people are in debt because of this? A lot of people talk like they are managing their finances, but the more money people make, that narcissism rears its head, and they build up debt like crazy. I know being older, the more money people got around me, the more debt they accumulated, and the more stressed their lives became, all because they followed this idea of empire building. Its so depressing, especially when you see young people all over social media thinking this will make them happy, and they are passing this craziness to their children!

My post was to show why you shouldn't brag on people because you see numbers, behind those numbers its usually a sad life. I'm talking about anyone who chases "success", regardless of where they come from. Your goal should be to be the best at what you do, get paid accordingly, and live a life of peace. The problem is society has taught us this isn't enough, we have to have jobs with titles, the biggest house, wear the "best" clothes, drive the" best" cars, and then we think we are successful. The thing is what they don't tell you is this breeds mental issues, which if not stopped can get to whole families. I rarely hear people brag about enjoying a nice day, eating good food, and just living a normal life with money slowly accumulating, they have to be living it up like stars. This mental illness is why stress is so rampant in this country.

An example is the Jay Morrison Tulsa real estate fund. I believe in his project, but the fact that he had to make his pitch look like a music video with people dressed in suites, and fancy dresses, in front of a mansion shows how lost we are as a society to the point we have to bullshyt ourselves to do things that benefit ourselves. If he just pitched his fund with the info, the average person probably wouldn't even listen. Look at jobs like plumbers, electricians, and other skill trades that pay well, the average parent doesn't brag on those to their children as jobs to have, its because they don't have the image that come with other types of jobs due to media effecting our perception of things. THIS IS NARCISSISM!

Good but still indicates a glass ceiling. Their household income is $5k higher than the median but they're wayyyyyyy more educated with nearly a 3:1 advantage of Americans as a whole with grad degrees.

African and Asian immigrants work much harder but end up essentially in the same place or even a notch below whites (avg whites not those born with money).

That may be the best proof of white supremacy.

You beat me to it!

It all starts at home. From what I've seen most of those Nigerians that fit that mold come from two parent households and from an environment that ENCOURAGES book smarts and wealth building.

Not too many that will ridicule you for being a nerd and the women aren't chasing thugs. Also the parents seem to have a strong influence over their kids. I regularly hear them say their mom doesn't want to meet any women from them unless that woman is going to be his WIFE and they apply societal pressure on women and men to seek marriage. Not too much GMB over there. And they only respect their kids when they marry another Nigerian I believe (Nigerian brehs can chime in here I'm speaking as someone looking from the outside in)

I could be wrong but

Strong family unit
Respect for elders
Encouraging book smarts

Some Nigerian parents are bigger "tiger mom's" than Asian parents. Good recipe for success.

There was a point in time black america was like this but now that's eroded.

It's still GMB though

How many Nigerian friends you got breh

But yeah, you're not wrong in this post

- Both my parents encouraged book smarts and good grades. Getting a B in school wasn't an achievement in my house growing up. It just meant you are falling behind :wow:

- Yup thats true, Nigerian women hold book smarts over everything. Swag matters somewhat, but its like 5th on the list of what females look for. Their favorite thing to ask is "When are you finishing school"

- My parents always geared relationships toward marriage. They thought of "dating" as a useless activity. Unless that dating wait straight to fiance, then to marriage. And my parents wanted to be involved in who I was dating to make sure she was marriage material :mjlol:

- The tiger mom and tiger dad thing is true too. Growing up, My mother would hover over me and my siblings when we did our homework to make sure we were doing it write, and critique our hand writing. My father would constantly correct my grammar and tell us how to dress proper

- Strong family unit, I can agree to that. My parents rather me and my siblings hang out with each other or my cousins, or family friends they approved of. And if I met a friend, my mother wanted their phone numbers and where they lived

- Yup, respect your elders. Say please and thank you. Respect your elders, even if they are dead wrong , just respect them

You do realize that a narcissist is literally just someone who thinks the world of themselves, even their outward appearance. That’s the only meaning that word has.

You can be any race, age, sex, income level, doesn’t matter. I’ve been around narcissists my entire life. It has nothing to do with business savvy.

Now, unless we’re going by a new definition, this entire argument you put forth makes no sense at all whatsoever.

You sound like a fool.

First, there are only around over 1,000,000 African born people who live here, as opposed to over 40,000,000 black american people, so the comparison is not the same.

Secondly almost half of the Africans who come here have college degrees, so that adds to numbers being positive for them.

Thirdly, its straight disrespectful to shyt on people who had to literally fight for every thing they got because of racism, to make it seem like "Africans are better because they just got here, and doing better then you". You just ignored everything that comes with data, just to back up your claims which are half truths. You gave all the attributes of low class people to all black people, and used a few Africans to make your point. That is a move straight out of white supremacy, yet you are trying to downplay white supremacy at the same time!

Unlike others, I'm not gonna shyt on all Africans because that is what you want. People like you are why Africans all over the world are not growing, you use one to hate the other, in the meanwhile African immigrants are suffering. They have more education, but get paid less then a white person who has less education. They are high in poverty( at least 19%), and the home countries are struggling, but you ignore all of that to praise the few who are doing good. It's clear as day you don't care about them, or want them to do better, they are just pawns in your game to shyt on black amercicans. I hope some of them don't fall for your type of people's trickery.

African Immigrants: Immigrating into A Racial Wealth Divide | Prosperity Now

"African immigrants are most often some of the most highly educated from their native countries and have higher educational attainment levels than most native-born Americans. Over 40% of African immigrants have completed four or more years of college. For such a highly educated and predominately English-speaking community, one would expect economic results far stronger than have been documented thus far. In 2007, African immigrants’ median income, based on 2007 data, was a mere $44,000 compared to a national median income of $50,740. To put this in perspective, according to the American Community Survey, from 2010-2014 only 20% of White Americans had a bachelor’s degree but had a median salary of almost $60,000. The 2009 American Community Survey also shows, that a greater share of African immigrants lived in a household with an annual income below the federal poverty line at 18.5% than the native- born Americans (13.6%) and immigrants overall at 17.3% despite their higher educational levels.

You still don't get it. Its not about what it means literally, its how a narcissists thinks, and moves.

You just wrote its about outward appearance, well that describes what I posted. This is why the higher you go in certain careers, the more narcissistic the people tend to be. you know this, but you just want to argue. After reading your other posts, I see you are just an agent. Aint no point in replying back to you
