That's what I'm saying, Indian-Americans have higher education rates than Nigerian-Americans, though that's likely going to change in the next generation, depending on how Trump affects immigration policy, and how different areas of the US fund their public education system.

Both India and Nigeria are surging economically, but w/ population booms and failure of higher education systems to accompany, you'll likely find an increase.

No, a lot of immigrants tend to be narcissistic, if they came here by choice. You have to understand, for one to leave his homeland(even his state in the u.s.a.), live in a different culture, and start from square one, it takes some sense of belief in yourself that is above average. At first this is a good thing, but if not kept in check it turns into narcissism. I personally believe this is why this country is so full of negative energy, especially in the major cities, its because of so many people who are narcissistic congregating in one place. This is why the children of a lot of immigrants either go along with their parents, and become just like them, or separate and don't have as close of a relationship with them like the ones who do get along well with them. The sad part is these kids end up being troubled as they grow up because of the pain of not feeling connected to their narcissistic family, but it will be seen as the child was rebellious, so that's why their life was harder. What's crazy is these are the kids who are the ones who should be admired, not the ones who followed their parents, because in order to go against the grain of doing wrong, you have to be a real good person!

The reason why most don't see this is because chances are they are codependents who wish to be like the narcissist. This is a major reason why President Trump got so many votes, a lot of whites come from narcissistic households, and are used to a white man who says how he feels, even if it is foul, as their "leaders". Why do you think so many white women voted for him, even after hearing "grab them by the p*ssy"?

Always look at what's behind the stats, images, not just what you see upfront. You should want to emulate people who show they are peaceful, empathetic, can defend themselves, and try to be upright. Once you just look at money, shyt goes down hill.

There's a reason for this. Africans treat getting degrees like competition. Whenever we have reunions with family members, the first question our aunties and uncles ask of us is "are you finished with your engineering degree?" "did you get into medial school yet?" or "are you finished with your PhD in nursing?"

My entire family and intermediate for example are all doctors, nurses, lawyers, and civil engineers. I have one cousin that decided to switch to business his junior year and his parents were ashamed to tell us until much later when he finally proved to them he was making it once he got a solid job making $70k only 2 years out of college at age 25. Meanwhile his older brother is 28 as a cardiology resident only making $50k and he's stuck in his program for 4 more years before he makes the big bucks.

A parent should not be ashamed of their sons decision to go another field of study, they should be ashamed if he did something to hurt someone else. What you described is narcissim in a family. Being that his parents felt like that tells me they went through the same thing!

I bet you they praise the cardiologist brother because he has a title that most associate with something to brag on, and when they do brag on the child who did the business study, they brag about his actual job, and do it to where you have a good idea how much money he makes?

AADOS worked hard and built successful cities post reconstruction. We had land. However, our ancestors were literally robbed of our land/homes, and run out of our cities. But, even discounting that, we weren't adequately compensated for the work we did do during slavery that the government promised us.

Building on top of the above, after all of that, and during Jim Crow, the government aided White families in building White wealth while at the same time stifling Black wealth building. Add to that Black soldiers were fighting in the wars yet could not receive the benefits of the GI bill after WWII which boosted many Whites into the middle class, i.e. further allowing White families/people to build wealth.

It is ignorant to say, "there is something wrong with Black culture", as it places the blame entirely on us without ever looking at history. It is White culture that has caused the dysfunction of Black culture you see today.

I don't know much about the Igbo, but a while back I was listening to a BBC documentary about a guy from Mali that was involved in some kind of massive bank fraud. While the narrator was filling in the background information on the guy involved in the fraud; the narrator mentioned that the section of Mali that the man was from produced some of the top mathematicians in the World. Not surprised. You know I always questioned the "success" of Nigerians until we had a department had to gather software requirements from.

I was told that this group was difficult -by my manager and director lol.

When I met with them, the whole departments leadership was nigerian. The interim vp igbo, lead data analyst yoruba, manager igbo and the team lead was edo, while everyone under them was indian, Persian, Chinese, and white.

Eta- it was funny as hell in our meetings to see all these Nigerians debating with eachother. A non-nigerian would think they were arguing or yelling because they are loud. The cacs would leave the meetings mentally drained.

But i don't think nigerians are smarter than any other group, I think the over population breeds competition. So when they leave nigeria in search of better opportunities they are willing to get it by any means.

Sorta like how NY nikkas leave NY and hustle in DC, Ohio, ATL, MIA etc. Even the lamest nikkas are loud, arrogant and competitive.

It all starts at home. From what I've seen most of those Nigerians that fit that mold come from two parent households and from an environment that ENCOURAGES book smarts and wealth building.

Not too many that will ridicule you for being a nerd and the women aren't chasing thugs. Also the parents seem to have a strong influence over their kids. I regularly hear them say their mom doesn't want to meet any women from them unless that woman is going to be his WIFE and they apply societal pressure on women and men to seek marriage. Not too much GMB over there. And they only respect their kids when they marry another Nigerian I believe (Nigerian brehs can chime in here I'm speaking as someone looking from the outside in)
