this is one of the most confusing and non-nonsensical posts I think I've ever read on here

what does narcissism have to do with success? wealth building? managing your finances? << these are legit questions I'm asking, not rhetorical ones.

this sounds more like a pet peeve rant than one based in facts or one even connected to the topic of discussion

thank you for that lecture that we all got in middle school, but that didn't really negate my point.

here are some questions that will no doubt send you into a blind rage, but I'm asking out of sheer curiosity:

1) do nigerians typically covet name brand tennis shoes over their basic necessities?

2) same question for designer clothes

3) are nigerians flippant about their children's educations but want them to excel on the court/football/soccer fields?

let's just start with these three things. again, we're talking about wealth building, success and cultural attitudes.

and no, it's ignorant to argue that people that have been here for generations are being surpassed by africans that have been here for a decade, is all solely due to the all powerful and omniscient white man

who somehow magically can't seem to keep actual AFRICANS down, only african americans. :stopitslime:
If you know Nigerians under 50 in the US you know they like to stunt, at times above and beyond their AA counterparts. I’m their native country, the stunting doesn’t stop either. From luxury whips to clothes, to other things like education and child success. If it’s flosssble, they will floss w/ it.

2 replies within minutes of themselves pointing out education.

We culturally don’t value education like we once did, they still do!

Again, facts and reality sending these oddball basic negroes’ brains scrambling - if they can’t directly connect something to Dwight Mann, they go crazy
We do. In fact, every other Coli thread is about how “going to college,” is said “too much” in the AA community (a sentiment I think is absolutely foolish).

Problem is he's wrong

I googled to see if what he says is true, and I find African immigrants have more college degrees in the states then from my previous findings!
African immigrant populations in US are better educated than in Europe

Okay, I was not comparing African immigrants in the US to African immigrants in Europe. I was comparing Nigerians living abroad to home-based Nigerians. They come from a much more diverse background than some would have you think here. I'm a living testament to this.

African Americans who're making a way :salute:

:scusthov: @ the bullshyt "Thug" and "Nerd" talk coming up in this thread though.
No such thing as a 1st generation African American.
That's my ethnicity. No immigrants or children of them are part of it.

Of course they do if the percentage is 49%, but that also means there is a significant amount that have a head start with their education. Going by his post, he made it seem like it was less then what the data shows.

The graph shows the uk as well

Thank you! I've been saying for a long time here that Nigerian immigrants come from diverse backgrounds but some posters refuse to believe it.
Not in the US.
Europe? Yeah.
Unless you're a war torn reffie or close enough to float, you ain't getting in without white skin, a degree, or $$$

1) I asked about prioritizing

2) this one is tricky, college graduation is great, very important I have a degree myself and attended several HBCu’s - but what about Standardized test scores. What’s happening post college graduation?

Just saying “we’re going to college!” Is not indicative of a culture that covets education- we’re on par with Asians, and Indians, Africans? :jbhmm:

Is college free?
If not, should immigrants be getting "black" grants/scholarships designed for ethnic AAs?
Do we have any benefits coming from them? Did they help fight for those?
I know my old music manager's (ghanian)parents paid for his schooling, along with grants.
Very curious.

That's wrong...college enrollment started beating out incarceration for black MEN in the 2000s.
So much for that

I’m talking about the cultural shift from how we view being an educated people as opposed to the alternative.

Remember when there was a rise in African American studies programs offered at colleges and that bled over into our fashion, movies, music, movies? That was the end IMO. This was in the late 80’s.

My facts vs a trend.
