It will happen if there is a coordinated effort in the black community, that is why I say the onus is on black people, the admission process itself is straightforward and there is no evidence of any racism in the admission process
:ohhh:
There is no evidence of racism in most processes in America, We could also argue that the justice, political, and corporate institutions don't practice racism either.

It all boils down to the fact that their are no intelligent black students and in-turn we produce no students capable of being successful at prestigious universities.

The admitted and proven- class and circumstantial bias in college admission processes really has no disproportionate affect on Hispanic and black students. Compound effects don't exist in society....

Furthermore, the testing results of black and hispanic elementary and preschoolers have no reflection on our nation or recent history. All studies done on this are wrong as fukk. Black students have lagged behind since slavery and mainly because we prefer to keep it like that.

Black females are increasing in their number, while black males aren't..... that's simply boils down to rap music in my opinion.

Blacks who do attend college aren't even graduating in high numbers.... shyt we aren't even graduating HS in high numbers - I firmly believe this is due to blacks inferiority and nature of simply not giving a fukk... all those black people who learned to read in slavery and the millions of black kids out there getting an education today are freaks of nature.

I agree, just tell black kids to read a book and bam = more black graduates.:ohhh:

Yeah actually that last part is correct, early childhood reading is one of te fundemantal ways to change things, studies have shown that the academic gap starts at a very early age and it's directly related to how much parents read with their kids, so giving black kids books and developing a culture of reading is one of the things black people need to do to change the situation

The rest of your post is just babble but the bottom line is there is no evidence of racism in the UCLA admission process and the way to address the low numbers of black students is by addressing black culture and also informing people about the process

:ohhh: So what you're saying is that if you read and teach children early then they do better in school later on in life. Gosh. Only if black people knew that.

Well, only if there was no rap music, I bet half of the student body at Yale would be black. :ehh:

yeah that is what i am saying, and the notion that you can fix that problem by jiggling around with the admission system is delusional, the problem is at the elementary school and high school level, and the problem is cultural and ignorance about the system and its something that black people are perfectly able to address

SAT I: A Faulty Instrument For Predicting College Success

http://www.fairtest.org/satvalidity.html

that's an irrelevant argument, and like the video its a corny argument that has nothing to do with black academic performance, i would dispute that article but im not really here to defend the SAT, i dont actually give a fuk about the SAT

but lets say it was true that SAT scores do not predict college success, what the hell does that have to do with black students at UCLA? the notion that we should change standards because black students do not met the standard is a very corny pathetic argument

and even your link says

The nearly 400 colleges and universities that already admit substantial numbers of freshman applicants without regard to test scores have shown that class rank, high school grades, and rigor of classes taken are better tools for predicting college success than any standardized test

black students perform badly in those categories mentioned, so regardless of what criteria you use, the horrific academic performance of black students would still result in a low number of black students

and FYI UCLA does look at other things besides scores

Note also that a number of students were accepted with test scores and grades below the norm. Like all of the University of California schools, UCLA has holistic admissions, so the admissions officers are evaluating students based on more than numerical data. Students who show some kind of remarkable talent or have a compelling story to tell will often get a close look even if grades and test scores aren't up to the ideal. Make sure your application has strong essays.

http://collegeapps.about.com/od/collegeprofiles/p/UCLA_Profile.htm

the "holistic" admission is why UCLA has been accused of breaking the law and using affirmative action on the down low, that is what the link i posted before is about http://freakonomics.com/2008/08/29/...-race-based-affirmative-action-in-admissions/

the bottom line is that you can jiggle the admission standards all you want, but if you dont deal with the core problem which is cultural and is at the elementary and high school level, you arent addressing anything, the only real solution to the problem is for black students to study harder and better and for black parents and the black community to get more focused about the the college admission process

so you mean to tell me that there aren't more than 48 black males of high school in the state of California that don't have the test scores and grades to get into UCLA?:duck:

If thats the case then they need to throw their admissions recruiting in the bushes :camby:
Its a pretty expensive school friend. Many of the friends of African descent who go there are on athletic scholarships.

Hmm no, UCLA and UC Berkeley are a public universities, they are actually one of the cheapest schools in the country, and definitely the cheapest schools that compete with Ivy League schools

Like I explained, 48 is the number that enrolled not the number that got accepted, there are probably 100 that got accepted

But yeah at the most there are probably a couple of hundred black males in California with the grades to get into UCLA, that is the state of black education right now, if you think UCLA re jiggling their admission standards would fix the state of black education you are delusional

Overall it is as bad as it sounds, black students are not competitive in academics

Maybe statistically as it pertains to liberal arts education... but i cant really make a blanket statement like that... look at all the black students that are enrolled in For-Profit institutions of higher learning..hell University of Phoenix graduates more black students than any college in the country.. by the way this reminds me of that WEB dubois vs Booker T debate we had on here a couple of months ago
