@Brady-Carter @stealthbomber @The Message got a question for y'all, how do you know what's the right set of speakers for your record player? went to my mom's and she's about to dump her old record player, but she doesn't have a set of speakers for it. Could I just hook up speakers from my home theatre or would there be some type of special receiver/speaker set I'd need to buy?

yea as long as you got an aux or rca hookup you're straight. speaker - i would hit a pawn shop or maybe craigslist. i would try to at least stay with the era or range of technology that the reciever is in. If its 70s or 80s (like mine) I would try to find speakers that are from the same era. Analog to analog, feel me. Newer speakers might work, but I could be dead wrong lol

it has a rca cord and another cable i don't recognize. i don't have a set of speakers. it was part of a deck with an amp and a equalizer.

The GND wire is to ground the player so there is less humming/buzzing from your speakers

Do many of your vinyl ordered online come with bent corners? It doesn't happen all the time but I can't stand it. And it happens no matter how well the package it.

That has happened pretty rarely to me, and most of the stuff I've ordered online is going from the USA to Canada. I would say I get more seam splits than anything else

I've only gotten one of those if we are speaking about the same thing. Bent may have been the incorrect word. The corners will be "smushed" in like direct pressure was applied to that specific part.

I understood what you meant. I usually refer to it as a corner ding or dent. I think those are unavoidable unless they're shipped in over-sized mailers (where the records are taped to the center of a 13"x13" stiffener) or the seller does something like this:

Just got in a ridiculous good Kanye West Graduation bootleg* I ordered off discogs.

Sleeve art work is good, not a gatefold but clean regardless. Sound is, well I am pretty sure it was ripped from a MP3, decent enough tho. Also it has..

The only other bootleg Vinyl record I have is Frank Ocean's Nostalgia Ultra, and it is, well not as good as this.

Well worth the 20 euro's.







*Reason for the Bootleg - There was only something like 200 hundred promo copies made of this album(sent to Germany I believe). Kanye's mom died before this album could be released on vinyl. The promo Copy is not even the full album. So a good bootleg is the next best thing.

i ordered a 7 inch of bam bam by sister nancy and it was supposed to be new but it was all kinds of used then i ordered daft punk- discovery and the sleeve was supposed to be nm but it was all bent up

Discogs is such a great site. Getting email updates about new sales listings for stuff in your wantlist is I've been able to get some good deals through that site too.

i know right. there aren't so many rap releases on vinyl though.. there's a few mixtapes i would pay to have on vinyl, even if it was bootleg.
