Jazz records is something I want to start collecting, I just honestly have no idea what to start with. Any recommendations?
Yeah, I need to add more Jazz and Hip-Hop to my collection.

Right now, I have:
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Miles Davis - Jazz Track
Herbie Hancock - Maiden Voyage
Various Artists - That's the Way I Feel Now - A Tribute to Thelonious Monk

The two Miles albums are from Black Friday RSD. The other two I picked up used when I came across them at my record store. I really need to add some Mingus.

And that's where I'd start, the classics from Miles, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Sun Ra, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock..

I'd start with Miles and you cant go wrong with any of the players from the second quintet : Herbie, Shorter, Tony Williams and Ron Carter. Even the cats he was rotating in the 70s electric stuff is proper: Gary Bartz, Weather Report, Chic Corea, Mahavishnu Orchestra (more rock than jazz tho).
Coltrane's bands too: Mccoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Garrison, Pharoah Sanders. You cant go wrong with them.

When in doubt: Monk, Mingus, Duke, Blakey

The Gambino LP was predictably canceled, but these came in today:

Was able to talk a seller down almost $10 off a record. It was a steal before I decided to haggle especially for it's scarcity and condition.
Record sleeve was more dinged up that I thought from the pictures. Still I cannot complain and the shipping was OD fast. Now I find a line on another record that seems too good to be true. I'll see what the seller is talking about and I hope that it pans out. I really hate that I've put myself into this rabbit hole with all this vinyl. These prices can be something else at times.

EDIT: Too good to be true. It was the instrumental version of the album.

@Brady-Carter @stealthbomber @The Message got a question for y'all, how do you know what's the right set of speakers for your record player? went to my mom's and she's about to dump her old record player, but she doesn't have a set of speakers for it. Could I just hook up speakers from my home theatre or would there be some type of special receiver/speaker set I'd need to buy?

it has a rca cord and another cable i don't recognize. i don't have a set of speakers. it was part of a deck with an amp and a equalizer.
