Falcom Event 40th Anniversary Livestream Promises New Announcements
The English version of Hajimari is likely getting announced in a two days. NISA says they have involvement in this event. If we’re super lucky Kuro gets announced too even though that’s gotta be a couple years off.

My game 1 save carried over to part 2. So it seems like the chick I chose to rock with at the dance is still my “love” interest in part 2.

My questions are

1). Does this at all alter the course of part 2? In part 1 it seemed like the game REALLY wanted you to match with Alisa but I was like “fukk that” because Laura was always the one. So does part 2 lean its romantic inclinations more towards Laura now because I chose her at the end of part 1?

2) If I stick with Laura in part 2, does the save then carry on to part 3?

3). I am playing these games on my Vita. I am aware that parts 3 & 4 are not on Vita. If I buy 3 & 4 on my PS4 is there a way to transfer my Vita Save from part 2 to the PS4 part 3?

4). Playing these games now have me
Interested in Crossbell. I’m assuming that because there are two actual Crossbell centered games that Cold Steel won’t explore the actual city/state. So if I played the Crossbell games do they take place at the same timeline of Cold Steel? Meaning they explore exactly why Crossbell wants to be independent?

1) the romance in these game is mostly divorced from the main plot. You can choose who you want and it really only matters in select scenes. Alisa who was my choice was the one the game was built to push you towards. Honestly I think she’s the only one who comes up like that in the main plot.

2 & 3) I don’t think anything transfers over because at the time these games went from the Vita and PS3 to the PS4. I don’t really remember it even giving an option.

4) You go to Crossbell in the series in the final 2 games and probably Hajimari. If you’re going to play the Crossbell games ideally you’d play them before CSIII but CSIV and Hajimari are both sequels to Crossbell and continuations of Cold Steel. The Crossbell games happen in parallel with I and II.

Gotcha. The definitive edition on Switch has a "the story so far" mode where they break down the events of 1 and 2 fot those who never played it. That's why I was asking if I could get away with not playing the first 2.
Yeah you can.

The best way I can put it is it’s the difference between you and a sibling reuniting with a childhood friend that both of you knew vs your sibling reuniting with one of their childhood friends and you knew of them but didn’t know them personally.

Also there are a lot of background characters that have distinct personalities and side quest in both I and II that you reunite with in II then again in III and IV. You’re at a military school and they’re your classmates. If you don’t play those games and side quest all that stuff is totally lost on you. It’s not just the people from the previous series. You go to school with these people as kids in I then reunite with them in II then in III and IV you see them as adults.

Much of the second half of Cold Steel IV especially loses a lot of impact if you haven’t played Sky and Crossbell. One of my favorite characters in Cold Steel IV is a character that appears in Sky and Crossbell named Renne. I didn’t like her at all in Sky but development between all the series had her jump to the top of my list in CSIV. Both her personality and sense of humor drastically changed from her introduction to CSIV.

Need that English dub knowing them itll drop in September hopefully or maybe spring time.
I would think spring 2022 unless they locked themselves in a room and banged the translation out. Falcom doesn't give out scripts to their western localizers until after the game releases in Japan.

2023 :francis:

I'll stick to Geofront and probably play Hajimari & Kuro next year as I continue to work on my Japanese for Light Novels.
