I say Gundam because there's other mechs but some are "special" and the others are just regular jobbers. A Gundam was worth at least 4-5 regular mechs.

I remember a lot of people didn't like 2 because of the pacing (which is pretty all over the place) but I enjoyed it, particularly the second half. The start is glacial though.

2 was a weird game to me. It's probably my least favorite of the series. There's a little drama at the end but it also felt kinda anticlimactic. I didn't like the game enough to actually finish it. I did the Divertissement at the end and just skipped the final dungeon.

Falcom Event 40th Anniversary Livestream Promises New Announcements
The English version of Hajimari is likely getting announced in a two days. NISA says they have involvement in this event. If we’re super lucky Kuro gets announced too even though that’s gotta be a couple years off.

You could play that first but there’s a lot of callbacks and references you won’t get. These games build on one another.

If you’re the type of person that’s asking can you start there then I’m assuming you don’t have much interest in playing any of the previous games.

I’ll put it like this. If you know of the MCU story what you’re asking is “can I just skip all the other movies and start with Infinity War?” To that I’d say yeah you could but it will drastically change your experience.

Gotcha. The definitive edition on Switch has a "the story so far" mode where they break down the events of 1 and 2 fot those who never played it. That's why I was asking if I could get away with not playing the first 2.
