This game should've made you play with Abby first then Ellie ala kingdom hearts 2 style, then, she kills Joel at the end, and then Ellie kills her,accepting this is the way the world is now and there's nothing she can do to change it, cause she still ends up alone with nobody anyway, the way the game ended she honestly should commit suicide at that point.
Make the progression faster? In what way?
Not spending any time on tedious mini-objectives. Turning navigation on meant I always knew what to do and where to go to.
started the game on hard mode at first. Midway through I customized the difficulty settings in a way that allowed me to bypass skirmishes I didn't care about, while still making other battles fun if I so chose to engage in them.
Shaved off several hours from my playthrough this way.
This would make way more sense... Killing Joel so early in the game low-key had me over it. Especially cuz I kinda felt like the entire time Ellie wouldn't really get her revenge. Letting Abby go after going through all the trouble to find her was just stupid. That would be like Joel just letting the fireflies kill Ellie in the last game...

Abby was just too young to really get wtf was going on
Since she was a kid in her eyes her dad got killed for being a good person. Being a doctor I doubt he was a ruthless killer like everyone else so she's probably never seen her dad be violent so to her it's no fair.
Although the one thing I don't understand about everyone's response to you is why everyone is 100% sure they would've JUST made a vaccine from Ellie, if anything I would've made her a bio weapon and with producing a vaccine for myself and allies I would've procured something that would've made controllable infected, since many people in the first stage retain some humanity, they could definitely create more of them and then control them, effectively having the strongest military on the planet.

haven't been keeping up with this argument, is the question why is Abby justified in torturing Joel?
I don't think she is. and I didn't see the game trying to convince us of that as much it explains her motives for killing him
