The lead up to Joel's death is still out of character to me and the random Joel forgiveness flashback, especially after getting her two fingers bitten off, made the ending
I understand the scope of it and I like the ambition but the execution of the ending didn't work for everyone, like me
I predicted Abby might live, especially after playing 12 hours as her, but also was prepared for her to die
If she lived, I predicted ND would come up with a more clever way of her living but whatever
I understand the non
people's outrage
Unfortunately it merges people who are not like that with the
crowd
In terms of the 2nd half, after playing a bit on New Game+ as Abby, Abby's section has grown on me
It like beating the living shyt out of people and stomping on zombies
It's unbelievably satisfying
Her half was quality and ND of course put the best sections in her half
Trying to force players to like Abby with a bunch of contrived shyt but the production quality is incredible
I don't give a fukk how big Abby is or gets
I also understand her killing Joel (despite the
buildup), even after him saving her life, because he killed blood. What would anyone do in the presence of a parent killer? Too bad she doesn't have forgiveness flashbacks like p*ssy ass Ellie
Even her torturing him because again he killed family and might have damned all of humanity (or not according to the recordings of failed child experiments, making Joel a hero and anti hero brilliant
)
You have to respect that
It would have been nice to have had a longer Joel section with a ultra violent send off especially with this game's mechanics?
It would have been fun as hell but all we got is this nikka riding a horse for 10 seconds
So I went from indifferent towards Abby to liking how fun Abby's half is and embracing how crazy this bytch is
I understand her motive even though her turning against WLF in 3 days is a bit unrealistic to me as well but whatever
So I think TLOU2 is an ambitious Hollywoodsque level but flawed story
I wouldn't rate the story as harshly as I did my first play through
TLOU2 is an amazing ride, like playing a movie with shocks and twists (Joel's death
, Jessie's face blown off, Dina pregnant, Abby
)
Neil should be credited for that and the GOTY award sweeps show that most people can at least agree on it being an incredible ride
The ending though
Pretty damn near ruined the game's story for me on my first play through but I understand it's scope and message I just think the execution is off
So now I expect game of thrones movie type shyt for all future ND games after Neil set the tone
With PS5 hardware the experiences are going to be amazing
