I watched the 60 Minutes ep with John Gotti Jr earlier today and was impressed by his demeanor. But at one point in the interview it mentioned that he was lampooned by his father at one point for fukking up while he was acting boss, and that other people in the mafia also felt he was a joke. Is there a consensus on Gotti Jr's short tenure as boss? He looked and sounded the part during the interview, I just wanna know whether he backed it up

Looking the part to outsiders vs the presence of killers are two different things, friend.

Who built Las Vegas again? LOL Keep the jokes about the mafia being finished and other groups being more powerful coming. Keep marginalizing the issue with just the NY faction and ignore its global reach. I can use the laugh!

Doesnt an armenian guy run a big portion of vegas now.

Im sorry but yall seen to many movies if you honestly think the mafia still run the streets. Yes they get money BUT....they don't run the streets anymore. Ive said over a million times the mafia makes money (nowhere near their prime doe) but they don't control the streets anymore. I guarentee the savage/retarded/morons the gd's have more power in the streets then the mafia do.

Oh wait I see yall response

"But but but...real gangsters only want money :why:"

Yes but they also crave dominance and dominance is not what the mafia has anymore. Anybody telling me that the mafia are still dominate is outta they minds. Miss me with that they got politicians/laywers/blah blah, no nikka this aint 1971!.

Nothing you've said is based on any credible research or first hand knowledge/experience. It's all speculation and conjecture.

Exactly... Carlo Gambino had his son in law murdered for making jokes about his nose. These c a c s on this forum show their a$$ in threads like this.
I believe that was Paul Castellano. And no, he didn't just kill his son-in-law over jokes. That didn't help, sure, but he killed his son in law over a combination of him abusing Paul's daughter, running the business Paul gave him in the ground, and pulling scores, which Paul disapproved of because he wanted his daughter to be married to a legit guy.

Question for Lewis Black:

If the GDs/bloods/crips etc. are so powerful, then why don't they translate that power into money? The GDs operate in Chicago, just like the Chicago outfit. They have since the late 60s. Why didn't they take what the mob has? Nevermind the more complicated rackets and political power, why didn't they shake down businesses? Why didn't they loanshark? Pull high level robberies and burglaries? Chop shops? Why didn't they tax drug dealers, gamblers, porn shops etc.? Why don't they corrupt law enforcement?

How come they don't use all that 'power' to do something else besides selling drugs and killing each?

You clueless as fukk my nikka. I bet you're barely in your 20s.

If the streets is where it's at, ask yourself why have all successful G's from all walks of life aspired to move up beyond them.

The streets is filled with soldiers who do nothing but take orders.

No disrespect to you, you have made some good points but the Chi town gangs do have political ties, rackets, they do extort etc. That's one of the reasons the Chi gangs and law enforcement tell you they organized crime aint not gangs like Bloods and Crips. I don't believe that they have overtaken the mob though.

You seem emotionally invested bro. Chill.

So one minute the mafia are these untouchable dudes what have ultimate power but when I say who runs the streets it's "running the streets aint where it's at :skip:" again the mafia r flabby n sick. If it was up to them they would have the streets back.

Yall can miss me with that "they falling back cos they smart" lol nah homie they falling back because they on they last legs.

Bloods/crips/gd's are not ordinary gangs they are super gangs (sounds corny but it's the truth). In this day and age the mafia are not tryna cause no trouble with these gangs.

The mafia is on shaky ground
Cosa Nostra, once a nationwide organization of Italian-American mobsters, is down to one outfit in Chicago and New York City's five organized crime families — the Bonannos, Colombos, Gambinos, Genoveses and Luccheses. They are "about all that's left," Mob historian Selwyn Raab says.

Which doesn't mean the Mafia is dead. But organized crime experts say the Italian mob is seriously wounded: shot in the foot by its own loudmouth members, bloodied by scores of convictions, and crippled by a loss of veteran leaders and a dearth of capable replacements.

If you want more holla.
