You're going to have to post more to prove your point since no point was proven. The second article title mentions "Italian mobsters in widespread decline" but only mentions a few US cities and not the global mafia. Also it shows that there is widespread cooperation with law enforcement but that is common in all aspects of crime these days. My last point on that source is that fewer numbers doesn't mean less power, money or influence. That seems to be the articles primary premise and yours as well. If the conclusion that the mafia has long since legitimized into business and has gotten further and further away from the street crimes, then the low level street guys getting locked up for what's left of the street activity is a valid point, but it certainly doesn't discount the mafia's global power. And it certainly doesn't automatically mean that street gangs are now more powerful than them.
The second article for the most part is similar to the first article which the media has been singing since Gotti got locked. It deals moreso with the NY faction but in that article and the prior article both say that the NY faction is not only growing but still making tons of money as well. I fail to see the point you were trying to make by posting it. If a old mobster goes away, another takes his place. That is the organized structure that they have set up to ensure that it just keeps going no matter who's in charge. You can't say that with every criminal organization and their certainly isn't that sort of unity with 40 year old street gangs.
If you want to prove your point, why don't you show how Bloods are racking in the amounts of money that both articles mention the mafia still make or how the Crips have taken over the rackets that the mafia once had or how the GD's are now a international criminal organization.
