Saying you like the Infamous more, I can understand that

But trying to insinuate The Infamous is a bigger album or Mobb Deep is as popular as Ice Cube is :dead: That's so outlandishly retarded I don't even know how to comment. That's like saying Lil Durk is bigger than Drake. It's so absurd there's really no way to comment on it because it's blatant trolling

Lmaooo @ they stopped counting album sales. I can't with y'all. nikkas need to do stand up
Explain to me how an album that went Gold in months it's not Platinum 20 years later, explain to me how one of the most popular albums of All-Time a double album is stuck at 9x Platinum for damn near 15 years

This right here. There were several acts from all over the country that were going plat/multi-plat with zero feedback from NY. We're talking about 1995, not 1989. Outkast got booed in NY but was going multi-plat, so somebody was buying their shyt. Death Row was openly antagonistic towards the east, and still going 3-4x plat. Like I said, by the mid-90's NY had stopped being the be-all-end-all in terms of making or breaking a rapper's career.

I copped "The Infamous" in '95 and had no idea what a Hot 97 is. I'm from the mid west.

Fred.

Bruh during the height of the East/West beef Angie Mar had Snoop & Pac on her radio show at the same time for an interview. NY has always had love for different artists but you had to come correct with your skills. You can't say NY wasn't that big of a deal or artists didn't need that exposure to boost their career because that's not a true statement.

Appearing on NY radio =/= NY radio heavily factored into their success.

I hope you're not delusional enough to think Snoop/Pac wouldn't have sold what they did, without going on Hot 97. Again, I'm from the midwest, had all those albums, and had no idea what Hot 97 was until like 2003 or some shyt.

Snoop was huge nationwide, Bone were huge nationwide we're talking stars here. Goodie Mob was not outselling Mobb, OutKast was not killing Mobb on the charts at all till 00's, 8Ball & MJG were not outselling Mobb :mjlol:

Outkast out sold Mobb Deep their entire career. From '94 onward. You cats are fukking crazy man.

Did I say that Bruh? Don't make assumptions because I never said or implied that. You need to understand how things worked back then. Yes they were selling & no doubt lots of NY'ers were buying their music not just west/midwest/south people were buying their records . I know a lot weren't cosigning their disrespect of NY but I can tell you for a fact that NY'ers loved their music because it came correct. They spoke to the streets. You're kind of implying yourself that they sold all of these records without any help from NY which is delusional.

Mobb's shyt just stopped selling right? 20 years later Mobb's shyt definitely hasn't move a million units right :beli:
This probably the last time I'm talking sales or "popularity" :scusthov: because this has nothing to do with which album is better.

Bone yes, Snoop yes, Kast by ATLiens was outselling Mobb slightly those other nikkas no. By the way Bone and Snoop were all over the radio nationwide.

Southernplayalistikcadillacmuzik & ATLiens went Platinum while The Infamous & Hell on Earth went gold... which means they were outsold by a 2-to-1 margin at least. That isn't "slightly" outselling someone. :dahell:

Off the dome I can tell you for a fact that Bone Thugs, Outkast, & Snoop all came to NY in the 90's for exposure & to do shows. The other groups I'm not so sure about & would have to look up.

Whether they did shows in NY isn't the point. The point is they didn't NEED NY in order to move units.

Bone went to LA to get a deal and were based out of there. Snoop, the same. Outkast & Goodie Mobb were based out of Atlanta. And Scarface & 8Ball & MJG were based out of Houston.

NONE needed the NY market to sell records. And they were able to outsell Mobb Deep and most of their NY contemporaries.

Goodie Mobb's debut went gold the same year the Infamous went gold. And did it while operating out of a smaller market.

On Top of the World (ball&G) also went gold the same year as the Infamous. And their gold record was far more impressive given the fact that they went gold on an independent label and had no nationwide radio play or consistent video play.

Also might be important to note that Ball & G have more platinum & gold plaques than Mobb Deep and has outsold them career record sales. :sas2:

If you believe that 2-1 shyt you're retarded, you don't know what Mobb's numbers are in 2014 like I said the sales haven't been kept track of and that's the case for many artists. The Infamous outperformed Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik on the charts and well Gold quicker. ATLiens outperformed Hell On Earth slightly not no 2-1. :comeon:

We're so off course with the topic it ain't even funny :lolbron:My point whole point about this whole argument is when Mobb dropped The Infamous they were more than just some locally heard group from NY trying to get on. Their songs were getting massive play & they had a popular Sprite commercial backing their music with Tyson Beckford who was poppin' back then. Getting your ish played constantly on the Angie Mar & Flex show was a big deal back then. I'm not saying you but others here are underrating & downplaying Mobb & The Infamous. I also never said that The Infamous said bigger than DC but The Infamous was better album & P is the better lyricist prime for prime.

'kast debut went plat on RIAA, and Mobb Deep's went gold....but cats are saying they stopping counting Mobb's....let's just get crazy and say 'kast debut sold 20 mill. I mean....since we're just tossing shyt out with no kind of proof, let's get crazy with it. Whatever number you say Mobb sold, 'kast sold more. I don't have proof, but they stopped counting it.

On Top of the World was particularly successful, peaking at #8 on the Billboard Hot 200

Based on your simple ass logic. On top of the world was a bigger album than both. And if they didn't stop counting album sales, it would really be triple platinum, right? :shaq2:

That doesn't mean they exactly doubled up, the sales are not updated they haven't updated since '95 you DO NOT KNOW how many copies of the album have been sold. You are going off numbers that are near 20 years old, Loud Records is also defunct and has been for quite a while which makes things complicated.

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx has moved over 1.1 million copies as of 2009 according to SoundScan, yet the RIAA still has it certified as Gold. :comeon:
