I've been a proponent of 8 since before it started, just makes sense

Only pause I have with 8 teams and P5 auto champs is what if a 7-5 team from a garbage division ups and beats a team in their champ game? Surely there would be better teams deserving over them?

Needs to be some kind of check. Like top 10 + champ = auto, otherwise make another at large. Make the ships a top factor in resume, but if you win a conference with an otherwise shyt season you get compared to other at large teams.

no. they played a season to get to their conference title game, and they lost it. They are not deserving any more, and the winning team is.

if you lose on a neutral field to a 7-5 team in week 13 you have just been exposed.

if Florida state lost to georgia tech then clearly they're not worthy to play in the tournament of champions. Same goes for alabama and missouri.

Thank god none of these arena league big 12 teams that play no defense are in the playoffs.I have no respect for that soft league

so after all the hoopla and fanfare for this committee, at the end we find out they full of shyt and are possibly worse than the computers lol....man, fukk this committee bullshyt, just have a 8 team playoff: the 5 conference champs, 3 at large, with the top 2 getting a bye week...they can use some of the bullshyt bowls as sites or let the higher seed host the game until the semi-finals, then use the bowl sites to host those games (like they doing this year)....

also, they need to do away with preseason rankings....dont rank teams till bout week 6....

there is no pity for the 10-2 team who didn't win their conference because an 12-0 who BEAT THEM lost in the conference title game to a 7-5 team. If its truly a tournament of champions the 7-5 DESERVES its place and the 10-2 team don't.

If SOMEHOW the big 12 had TCU and BAYLOR on the same side of division and TEXAS on the other half at 7-5, and texas BEAT BAYLOR who has already BEAT TCU, then NEITHER tcu OR BAYLOR deserve the shot...8-5 TEXAS does beacuse it won the conference.

you'd have 11-2 Missouri in the tournament

11-2 alabama in the peach bowl vs. TCU
10-2 Miss st. in citrus bowl vs minnesota

but guess what



bama should've beat missouri so there is no tears to be shed for them.

you're building in bias right there. I'm eliminating ALL bias.

your theoretical 11-1 michigan state was playing all year for the chance to get into the title game...congrats...that is your reward for going 11-1. Now you have to WIN your conference in order to play in the title game

i honestly don't care if wisconsin is 6-6 if they're in their conference title game. if you win you deseve to be in the tournament of champions. Maybe you were just in the toughest division of all and get a chance to prove it in the tournament.

you're right though, we will have to agree to disagree...its about being a conference champion and getting the chance to win for a title...not being 'highly ranked' or one of 'the best'.

it is if you include MWC / MAC / CUSA

#1 Alabama vs. #8 Northern illinois
#2 Oregon vs. #7 Boise St
#3. Florida State vs. #6 Marshall
#4 ohio vs. #5 Baylor

or if you dissolve the big 12 like it was about to a few years ago, and make it just the 4

12 or 16 is optimal since there are 10 FBS conferences.

10 with 6 at large is probably best. The SEC can get it's 2nd team as they feel is their god given right ( just joking ). Notre Dame wouldn't be able to cry. Etc.
