at least if you make it a tournament of champions theres no argument to be had.Nobody is ever going to be happy no matter what you can realistically do. 9-10 will be mad when its 8
That's about as good as it's going to get.at least if you make it a tournament of champions theres no argument to be had.
If the money is right, they will make it worthy of 8 teams and we will like it.There's is never going to be 8 teams worthy of competetint for a national title in college football.
The conference champs idea is garbage and Just people tangentially playing on nostalgia
Exactly. Look at how the NCAA tournament continues to add teams. What is it now the field of 68 or some shyt? Was it not the field of 48, thirty years ago? If they can make money off of the current format and they know they can make even more years down the road, 8 is inevitable.Nobody is ever going to be happy no matter what you can realistically do. 9-10 will be mad when its 8
Would you stop. Just please stop.at least if you make it a tournament of champions theres no argument to be had.
PreachI don't understand why people are upset that the Big 12 got left out with a 4 team playoff. Half of Baylor schedule was played against SMU, Buffalo, Northwestern State, ISU, Texas Tech, and Kansas. Those 6 teams combined have 21 wins That's an avg of 3.5 per team. Note it's inflated by Northwestern State being a 6-6 FCS school. Take them out of the equation, leave only the FBS teams, and it becomes 15 wins with an avg 3 per People want to bring up game control, and all this other bs, but get quiet when it's time to discuss who Baylor, and to a larger degree the entire Big 12, actually beat. It's easy to control a game when you're playing that type of schedule literally every other week on avg. In addition to that, due to not having a championship game, each team in the league gets an additional bye week. Also the Big 12 lost most of it's marquee non-conference games and the best win they had was TCU beating Minnesota. Baylor and K-State beat no one of note outside the league, although K-State did lose a close game at home to Auburn. Baylor loss to one of the few teams(WVU) in that league that actually played a tough non-conference(Bama and Maryland) and it was no coincidence that the loss was by double digits Baylor and TCU spent most of the year running up style points against mediocre teams who lost non-conference games against the other power 5 conference leagues. And in the case of TCU vs Kansas and Baylor vs Tech on a neutral field, they struggled to do even that at times
funny part is, with all this being said, the Big 12 was actually a better conference than the Big 10 this yearI don't understand why people are upset that the Big 12 got left out with a 4 team playoff. "Champion's League" would be dope ... better than "college football playoffs"at least if you make it a tournament of champions theres no argument to be had.
funny part is, with all this being said, the Big 12 was actually a better conference than the Big 10 this year
it's funny how no one was saying this before last weekend. Everyone was calling them out for losing to VT, overtime with PSU, weak conference opponents, etc.It wasn't that much better and OSU was better than any big 12 team
Big 10 had a horrible week 2. Conference was left for dead. Fast forward the end of the year, they have as many teams in the top 10 as the Big 12 and more top 25 teams. Baylor was last in Ooc schedule, dead last, and TCU was close. There is no denying that. I think the MSU Baylor game will be a good one. MSU struggled with high powered offenses, and Baylor D is trash, so will be fun to watchit's funny how no one was saying this before last weekend. Everyone was calling them out for losing to VT, overtime with PSU, weak conference opponents, etc.
OSU's defense this year is FAR different from last year. Personnel wise, the only defensive back from last year's team is Doran Grant, first team All Big Ten. Eli Apple, Vonn Bell, and Tyvis Powell were not starters all of last season (Vonn only played real time against Clemson).
Also, the defensive scheme used last year is much different than this year. Last year, we were without Bradley Roby for the bowl game because of an injury. As a result, they just played a soft zone coverage playing far off the ball. Sammy Watkins caught about 155 bubble screens in that game against OSU. This year, with a new secondary coach, OSU plays an up front press man coverage style, which has changed results dramatically.
Look at the pass defensive numbers compared to last year and tell me it's practically the same:
http://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/opponent-passing-yards-per-game
This year OSU is 11th in passing yards allowed, last year OSU was 118th. That's a huge difference.
This year OSU is 6th in defensive passer rating, last year OSU was 83rd. Again, not the same defense.
