WonderCon: Flash Writer Reveals Vital Easter Egg Fans Missed
Stars of The Flash took the stage at WonderCon, bringing quite a few secrets and teases with them.
5 Apr 2015 By Joshua Yehl
The Flash panel kicked off at WonderCon 2015 with Carlos Valdez (Cisco), Candice Patton (Iris), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin), and Andrew Kreisberg (writer and executive producer) taking the stage.
Talk began about Caitlin's villainous alter ego from the comics, Killer Frost, and Panabaker said, “You’re going to see her sooner than you think.”
Candice fielded a question about why Iris likes Flash but not Barry. She said that they're both the same person, but Flash behaves in ways that Barry doesn't, so it's that side of him she's attracted to. As for why she's hasn't figured out his secret yet -- when many others have -- she said that she knows Barry as someone who would never lie, so despite obvious evidence, her belief that Barry would never lie to her takes precedence.
The rumor of Caitlin and Ronnie getting married got brought up. Caitlin said they did film a wedding scene, but it was filmed on April Fools Day, and left it there.
It was asked if we'll ever see how Eddie and Iris first became a couple. Kreisberg said that there will be flashbacks to when Barry was in a coma, and they'll let viewerrs see past versions of Caitlin, Iris, Joe and the rest before the Flash was around.
Should we by sympathetic towards Eddie? Kreisberg said that he's just a dumb blond cop getting by on his looks more than anything, but he’s the most emotionally stable character, all things considered. Eddie is the one calling other characters out for being liars, but now that he’s in on Barry's secret, it becomes hard for him to be dishonest.
Continuing about Eddie, Kreisberg said they will explore his villainous DNA. He’s got a bad last name, which may or may not lead to something.
When asked about how they craft the show from the comics, Kreisberg said that some of the show is a faithful adaption to the comics while other stuff is completely made up, like the body-switching twist. He said they make the show both for people who are new to the hero and for people who have read the comics. They want to make it fun for new people without spoon-feeding the comic book plot beat for beat, which is why they mix things up.
Kreisberg mentioned how Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells) likes to twist things for the audience, and that he's pitched Tom things for the future that he's excited about. [Editor's Note: does this mean that Wells will be around in Season 2?]
When asked about the Flash/Arrow spin-off show that will feature various heroes teaming up, Kreisberg said that if Arrow is a gritty crime drama and Flash is about super powers and empowerment, then the team-up show is just insanity. Characters will migrate back and forth between shows to make use of the connected TV DC universe.
When asked about what villains we will see in Season 2, Kreisberg said Mirror Master, Doctor Alchemy, and "one that hopefully people will lose their minds over."
The fan question segment began with a fan asking if we'll ever see the timeline where Barry's mother didn't die. Kreisberg said there's a very big difference in that timeline that will affect the characters. In the last few episodes, the characters will hear about their futures and where they should have been and we'll get to see everyone's reaction to that knowledge -- and which characters decide to act on that knowledge to alter their future.
The panel was asked which non-Arrow CW show they would crossover with if they could. Panabaker said iZombie, Patton said Supernatural because she likes Texans. Valdez said Vampire Diaries. And Kreisberg said Whose Line Is It Anyway?
The next question asked why in Arrow, why do characters pronounce Ra's (as in Ra's al Ghul) in different ways? Kreisberg said that people from the comics say it "Raysh" whereas in the Christopher Nolan Batman movies they say "Rahz." So to include both, only those in the League of Assassins pronounce it as "Raysh" and everyone else says "Rahz."
Are we ever going to see alternate Flash Wally West? Kreisberg said, "I wouldn’t be surprised if one day you saw Wally West on the show.”
Will we see the black Flash on the show? Kreisberg said you can see anything on this show -- that's one of the most amazing aspects of the show. He said it was incredible that they were able to do something like Grodd as an all-CGI villain character. He said DC and Geoff Johns opened up everything to them for the show; nothing is off limits. If something exists in the Flash universe, they can use it.
Do you have a favorite Easter egg that no one has caught? Kreisberg said not enough people noticed the different color on Barry’s chest in Episode 17. When Flash was fighting Reverse Flash, he had the white on his chest symbol, indicating that that might be a different Barry than we think. He said as far as Easter eggs go, if it makes him and the staff happy, then it'll make fans happy, too.
The cutest little girl ever asked if there would ever be a kid with powers and would they be called the Mini-Flash? Kreisberg was clearly a bit amused and touched and said, “Well, there is now!” He also shared how they once talked about doing a story where a child got powers and how to deal with a powered child and if they should lock them up or not.
Another kid approached the mic, this one dressed in Flash memorabilia, and asked what Cisco meant in the new trailer when he said "This is mad freaky. Where is he?” Valdez said that in Episode 15, they learn that thing are not as erased as you might think. Some tlmelines might be revisited, and that will be instrumental in solving important mysteries.
To end things, each panelist was asked to tease the rest of Season 1 with one word. Valez: dreams. Patton: pissed. Panabaker: Frosty. And Kreisberg: Tears.

Another random thought..
If Eobard traveled with Gideon why does it call him Dr. Wells
On one hand, It would reveal the identity to the fans too early.
Logically, he needed to stay in mindset of Dr. Wells. Your name is the last thing you forget
No one show should have all that BLACKEXCELLENCE POWERJust wait until Wally and that extended family shows up
How did Eobard know that the lightning would hit Barry and give him super speed? What made him sure Barry would get hit and then what let him know that he would get that specific power? Is it just a case of something that will and would always happen because The Flash?
