The fact Killer Mike's rules of how Black America can save itself is actually controversial speaks volumes.

But you never see people doing this. All I see is Reagan era bootstrap ideology which only exists to cover up for structural racism and white supremacy
An individual doesn’t do both though. As long as people seeking self focused solutions don’t undermine those fighting for reparations, and vice versa, black people should be good.

Part of the problem is too many people think their way is the right way and behave accordingly. This is one thing I respect about Dame. He has made a concerted effort not to publicly talk about or disparage what a black man, especially one that he doesn’t know, is doing. We all could all learn a lesson from that point of view.

Those are great principles to live by, I do so myself.....but which problems is he talking about?

I know its not THE problem, white supremacey. Being educated, living frugally and sexually responsible won't get a cac to hire you, a business loan, that promotion, equal medical treatment, an "in" on a economic opportunity with an exclusive hedge fund, a seat "at the table", a vote in office, an internship, equal protection under the law, or customers at your newly funded establishment.

"We" aren't the problem in America.

Everything he said would close the wealth gap.
If you look at the poorest people they are all dependent on the government.

I don't think "working harder" is going to end white supremacy. It won't. But I can believe that while simultaneously understanding that graduating from college significantly increases the amount of money you will make in this country, on average. And that for those who do not go to college, pursuing a trade (or state/federal job) is your next best shot at attaining a comfortable life. And that in the absence of massive, federally funded aid to black communities (which is never coming), the only real option we have is to improve our own communities the best we can while also exerting political influence on the local/state level. That's not gonna topple white supremacy or end income gaps. But that's not gonna stop me from helping my cousin afford HVAC classes, or providing a written resume recommendation for the daughter of a family friend, or attending a black student finance/business club at a local university to offer whatever professional help I can give to get them into the door.

Those are the things that matter to me, and the things that I will be focusing on for the rest of my life. I have zero interest in engaging with faux revolutionary communists on twitter who preach paralysis and resent any form of achievement. I know what my mission is, and it sure as fukk isn't talking to them.

Capitalism won't save us, but it sure would help in the meantime:heh: I'm far from a capitalist, but the reality of the situation is people need some semblance of upward mobility before they can change anything long term in this country.
Didnt say you shouldn't. What I'm getting at is that isn't going to be the answer to fix the problem.

Jessica Cisneros was Bernie backed candidate in my state that I voted for that got fukked over by the DNC and Neo-Liberals that supported a corrupt conservative anti-choice Democrat

Sedar and Emma followed this one closely as did i. The the democrat senior leadership goes out of their way to fukk over progressives. This is just another example of that. Just like that bullshyt clyburn pulled

you really advocating delaying justice for a few more generations:gucci:

I did not say delay justice. You said none of the op can close the wage gap and I simply said it can, it will just take a few generations. Hell, I'd say on generation.

The black men and women doing good today are the result of good black parents doing what they had to do to put them through college.

This is far away one of the most grown up threads I’ve seen on this topic in a long time. Proud of y’all :wow:

No being at each others throats, no c00nish statements or overtly white supremacist propaganda. It’s beautiful :blessed:

Go to school, hold down a job and don't have kids you aren't prepared to raise isn't exactly respectability politics, that's just good advice for 95% of low income people.
