They are clearly copying Marvel.

What are you talking about? Make some sense man. DC didn't shoot for a connected universe until they seen it was viable. On the one hand it's less risky, on the other hand they don't have 8 years of planning. Which is why Superman turned into Superman V Batman turned into 10 characters in one movie.

Fred.
Breh they approach building their Cinematic universe differently bc they don't want to follow Marvel blue print it's really simple, it doesnt take a genius to understand that :mjlol:

Are u saying that DC isn't behind Marvel in terms of building their universe? I don't see how pointing that out makes someone a stan
What I was saying is D.C. approach is different from Marvel and having their T.V. universe being connected would hamper this approach and there was no need to bring Marvel into the conversation.

:dwillhuh: why would we want TV actors on the big screen?

You realize tying the universes has implications beyond flash. It means that prison break dude will be captain cold. Hes the worst actor on TV right now

I like the cw shows for what they are, but keep that in the small screen
THIS!!!!!!!! This has always been the most obvious reason & people still asking this question.

From Cinema Blend.

Seems like they don't want to deal with the hassle of maintaining continuity between the TV and movie universes.

But that still doesn't explain why Batman & Superman won't appear on the small screen.

I only watched the pilot of Supergirl but them not referring to Superman by name got old real quick. Are they still doing that?

Yeah, I think they are just avoiding confusion. If they put low budget Bats and Supes on the TV shows it might have an adverse effect on the movies? I don't know if that's well founded but maybe that's the case. Hey they do have Gotham I guess with a kid Batman.
They say they are being different some outsiders are saying they are fukking up. I guess it is preference do you prefer a multiverse or everything connected thru TV and film mediums? The choice is yours! Meaning preference you can still supporting both.

This. GG is a great Flash but if you bring him in, you have to bring everyone with him. That means the thin, pretty Amanda Waller and the white Deadshot would have to be in that SS movie instead of Queen Viola and Will Smith. It they ever do Birds of Prey as part of the Batverse, they would have to use Laurel from Arrow. If they want to use the Ra's / LoS vs Batman story line, they can't because they already did it with Oliver. It's just better to keep them a part...

Lowkey, Ezra Miller is a decent actor. We Need To Talk About Kevin is some disturbing shyt.. I agree GG kills it as the Flash and tbh, I can't even picture EM as Barry Allen. Really?
People were saying the same thing about Affleck. Just wait :sas1:

There's no way in the world a live action Batman or Superman show would work nowadays without it looking corny. I will never understand why you all would want that if you are really fans of the characters, Especially Bats. Just look at Agents of Shield. I saw the ep where they had that one chick from the Thor movies on there fighting and it looked like :scust:. Taking bits from live action big budget movies and expecting it to work on cable network show just isn't going to have the same atmosphere. Bringing up Marvel as an excuse as to why everything should be connected is not a good argument cuz Marvel doesn't have any Super hero shows on cable. Now I can see some DC shyt on Netflix without looking corny, but DC doesn't have a Netflix deal like Marvel does. And if they did, you dudes will call DC out IMMEDIATELY for copying Marvel :mjlol:

Hell, I'm 90% sure that if we get a version of Bats in the show Gotham it will be an early pre-Batman version and breh dons the mask at the very end of the series. CW's Flash is pushing the bounderies of special effects with a small budget and as good as it looks, it definitely fails (and should) in comparison to the movies on the big screen.

And don't get me started on a Supes on the small screen. I've seen enough of Supergirl already to know that shyt would look corny af.

On another note, imagine a Green Lantern Corps television series with a decent sized budget :wow:. They can do a lot with that.

They are following the Marvel blueprint though. :what:

Breh no offense but do you even know the history of any of this?

When they signed Nolan he flat out told them "Batman is completely stand alone" because in his "realistic" version of the story Batman would be the only super hero in the world. No Superman, no Justice League, none of that shyt.

So you're saying "they wanted to build a cinematic universe" which is bullshyt. They locked Batman, their #1 character, into a trilogy for 7 years, knowing they couldn't tie him into anything else from DC.

They even had a Superman movie ("Superman Returns") out the same time the Nolan trilogy started.
DC's two biggest characters had movies out....and they didn't use them together....why? It was an artistic choice? :comeon:

DC didn't give a fukk about "building a universe" until after Marvel proved it was possible. Which is why they're charting the shortest possible path to a Justice League movie.

I'm sure someone will take that as "Marvel vs DC"....but I don't care about all that. All I care about is facts.

I'm asking why is it a separate entity? What's the point if you own the characters, and are clearly trying to build a connected universe?

Marvel ain't putting X-Men in "Infinity Wars" because they don't have the rights. If DC is putting Flash and whoever else in the movies....they clearly own the rights. So why not use what they already established? It would be like if Jessica Jones or Daredevil is in a MCU movie and they recast the part. Makes zero sense.

Fred.
Ok, so you're Zach Snyder and you have a general idea for your cinematic universe. Then you're told you have to use characters from TV shows that have established histories and connections with different characters. You're basically asking for a clusterfukk. "Yeah Zach, we want you to oversee the direction of this huge cinematic universe we're creating....but you have to use these certain actors from a low budget teen network television show and figure out how to make it work" Not to mention that for the most part, the actors on these CW shows are trash. If I'm spending my money to see a blockbuster movie, I'm not trying to see horrible acting and people dramatically walking away from conversations (aka every episode of The Flash and Arrow). Bringing up Jessica Jones, Daredevil, etc makes no sense because those series came to fruition after Marvel created their cinematic universe. It's a lot easier to work those shows and characters in after the fact than vice versa. I could bring in negotiating different contracts, schedule conflicts, etc, but I'd be giving this way too much thought.

Not to mention Wally for a Teen Titans show. The list goes on...

CW is already known for taking their shows and putting their own accurate or inaccurate spin on super hero stories. Look at how they've been trying to make Ollie a low budget Batman now :heh:

I think both you guys are talking about different things. If we're talking about connect the cinematic universe with the television shows, then DC is doing it differently cuz they aren't doing that like Marvel is. If we're talking about the cinematic universes alone, then yeah, DC is copying Marvel to an extent.

I think that's what yall are talking about. I need to re-read through all this shyt again lol :dame:

That's why I said they fukked up even putting these A-list (or relatively A-list) characters on the small screen with small budgets and bad acting in the first place. So this goes back to not having foresight. Flash ain't some D-tier character like Jessica Jones. He's a core part of The Justice League. So while I get what you're saying it seems silly to use such a vital character all willy-nilly with no thought about the future.

If he's talking solely about TV shows I'm kinda confused why he'd take offense to me saying DC is behind Marvel.

It's like you nikkas refuse to use common sense in this bytch, and these are the nikkas we have as mods :snoop:.

If you are trying to differentiate ya self from the competition you are not going to follow their formula. Yes Marvel has a leg up on D.C. in terms of a shared cinematic universe but saying they are copying that is like saying Marvel copied Power Rangers in term of using the shared Universe concept. D.C. took the concept and is tying to builld their own in a different way to seperate themselves from the competition. Is that really that difficult to understand. You nikkas straight bogus when it comes to this topic :heh:

I thought the whole argument was about the cinematic universe and the television as one, which mean DC is not copying Marvel and is not falling behind cuz they got mad shows on television.

If you guys are referring to the cinematic universe as a whole, then DC is definitely behind Marvel.

This whole thread is confusing :mjlol:
