They still charging full price for mario kart 8, it came out in 2014!
It’s the 10 year anniversary
They're charging next gen prices on last gen games.they didn't double the price of their consoles or up their games prices by 50%.
Console space will be okay if MS bows out of hardware.
They're charging next gen prices on last gen games.
Items rarely if ever go on sale.
And the console lacks much of the standard functionality of its peers.
I don't think any of these companies will refuse the chance to maximize their margins if given the opportunity.don't get it twisted, Nintendo has been getting away with murder for years and no one calls them out on it.
But just because they do, to just assume Sony will is goofy. But if they do get out of hand, someone will swoop in and take their place. That's how it works. That's how Nintendo blew their dominance by being dikkheads.

We know Sony is already working on thin margins. They're either going to reduce the budgets on games outside tlou and marvels series, lay people off, or increase the cost of services.
It is what it is.
Doing stupid shyt is usually the way to lose your momentum in gaming. Nintendo was hit hard by not switching to the cheaper cd format to continue using carts and then charging crazy prices to lease them. Sega got fukked for the consistent infighting among the US and Japanese markets as well as spreading themselves thin by releasing two 32 bit consoles in the same release period. Sony shot themselves in the foot with the ps3 599 thing thinking they were successful enough to pull that off. And Microsoft ruined their momentum trying to kill the used game market as well as being arrogant about it.
If MS released compelling games, they'd still be okay without having to go this route. They completely ignored last gen, even though Phil promised every year that they'd release new exclusives.
Only reason PS3 was 599 was the bluray player and throwing in the PS2 processor on the early edition PS3s, but it still proved to be the right decision with bluray.
100.Agreed. Sitting on their laurels for years has not helped their case. And hearing them say they needed the actiblizz acquisition to compete really told me what time they were on. They could buy as many studios as possible and still be in the same hole because that isn't fixing their problem
Who could take Sonys place right now In the console space if Microsoft goes third party?don't get it twisted, Nintendo has been getting away with murder for years and no one calls them out on it.

Gaming is in a much different space than it was when the PS3 and 360 were out you were playing online for free now you have three tiers of services from Sony now. Nintendo is wildin on how much it charges for their exclusives but people are still buying it. Sony has a strong brand and whoever comes to the console space is going to have a hard time if they don’t have the right exclusives and ducks in a row. Besides any new player to the gaming space would probably provide a service instead of a console since software sales is king.
