So if Robin does become erm...... Robin/Batman/Nightwing/Earthworm Jim, does he take up the mantle ASAP or does he go and seek extensive training ala Bruce? yes I know suspension of belief, but lets just play along.

The 8 year absence of Batman bothers me.

It would have been fantastic if Bruce Wayne had become a recluse, falling deeper into his Batman persona because of the events of TDK. He would still be operating as a crime-fighter but as a wanted vigilante; by the time we see him in TDKR he would be experienced, fully-established and as close to the Batman of the comics as possible within the restraints of Nolan's world.

I believe it would have made the first encounter with Bane even more thrilling since Bane would have been fighting Batman in his prime rather than a Batman who had just come out of retirement.

He wanted to stop being Batman in TDK when Dent was doing his thing. He saw hope in Dent and when Dent and Rachael, he was mentally broken. Crime was at a minimim after TDK, so Gotham really didn't need a masked vigilante.

Duuuuuvaaaaal!!
Remorseless?? Where do you get that from ??why would' be remorseless he's not punisher . He is cold and calculating but batman consistently fukks with Selina in the comics , he was getting married in batman r.i.p. then the hand sonned him till he reverse sonned them lol at joker knowing he wasn't dead and that Bruce was coming to kick they ass :ooh: nicca was buried alive . He was tight when joker killed Jason todd. And with the court of owls the guys having family movie nights with the robin squad ( shout out to Damian ) . I think you guys have a idea of how batman should be when yeah not reality or you read one story and that's the only version Uou like.
Batman is like a smarter Walter white always prepared and the smartest guy in the room .

C'mon son! You SERIOUSLY think the comic book version of Batman really gives a fukk about anyone outside of his inner circle?? HELL NO.
He wouldn't have cared whether or not Catwoman had a good heart. That shyt ruined it for me more than anything.
And as far as Batman being a "smarter Walter White"? Are you fukking kidding me?? Walter White ain't got shyt on Wayne son.

well, bruce AS batman had NO PURPOSE anymore. how can u FIGHT crime when there's 8 solid years of NO CRIME?

not to mention, since they were loosely basing it off the KNIGHTFALL story, the way BANE defeated batman the 1st time was by having batman fight all these obstacles that tired him out by the time he finally confronted bane. not to mention, this being loosely based off THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, in that graphic novel, the older, out-of-shaped batman had to fight a BANE-LIKE CHARACTER and got his ass whupped the 1st go around.

I C/S a lot of this. Bale's version is hands-down the best so far, but the best portrayal of Batman has yet to be seen, I think.

I'm sorry but that's bull, organised crime may have been at a minimum but for Nolan to create a Gotham City where NO crime exists is a cheap cop out. Again Batman's remit is not just mobsters, NO crime is too small for him. And then to make it worse he comes back into the swing of things pretty quickly without much internal struggle.

Bruce calling it quits, deflates the ending speech Gordon gives in the end of TDK. You're given a sense that Bruce has now truly embodied "The Dark Knight" of Gotham, doing the work no one else is willing to do, despite the scrutiny of the public, because "He can take it."
