Think about it this way, in a year a lot of folks want to say is an all time great year in gaming an awards show spent less time honoring that year than they did promoting other shyt.
There's no thought to finish. TGA isn't special or unique for being a game award show. It's just the most popular and it got that way being the giant commercial it always has been. TGA has never tried to hide what it was either. There are other award shows that aren't trailer fest and few people outside the most hardcore fans are even aware of them.I think people’s criticism is that unlike a YouTube video, when the ad ends you get to finish the thought.
Here that doesn’t happen.

None of this is relevant. Stop. There’s plenty of award shows this year, this isn’t their only chance to be honored. Remedy and Larian got a humongous spotlight on them during the TGA’s more than either studio has ever had in the limelight. Its still a goat year for games, considering a turn based CRPG won GOTY.
These developers want recognition from the TGA’s becuase they’re popular, and they’re popular becuase they are filled with Ad’s and commercials.
But that doesn’t separate the fact that the TGA’s were never about the awards. Its the award show everyone watches because its not actually about the awards
Are the criticisms valid? There's no thought to finish. TGA isn't special or unique for being a game award show. TGA can't really take the platform it built being that commercial and then try to leverage it into a pure award focus. It would quickly become as irrelevant to the mainstream as those other shows.

If you want them to be the premiere event then they have to do certain things..
Not really because TGA doesn’t make it a secret what it’s about. People are getting upset because water is wet.Are the criticisms valid?

TGA made people stand up and take notice of it for being what it still is today and now people want to point at it and shame it for that.
I'm dapping this but strongly disagree with the bolded part. You don’t have to make a new thread complaining when the popular narrative goes against your predictions.
In this case, TGA is a valid E3 replacement.
You don’t have to narrative set everything. Especially something that isn’t important at all. If you enjoyed it why are you mad?
Geoff just needs to go ahead and pass the torch or stay behind the scenes, and let other people run a bit more with the show...
He has been rushing people off the stage, having games miscategorized, inviting kojima on stage and having questionable winners in all categories for over half a decade now.
It kinda does though. It claims to be one thing but then promotes another part more than 75 percent of the show. Not really because TGA doesn’t make it a secret what it’s about. People are getting upset because water is wet.
