The intended target for most comic book superheroes are young kids and teenagers. That doesn't mean that there aren't comic book superheroes who's main target is adults. Still disagree with your use ot the term "most". Marvel comics in general seems to be mostly mature stories. and has some (a clear minority) aimed at children. Hence the reason they have to tone down the comics when they make cartoons that are actually aimed at kids. Most of the shows can't even show blood or bullets or nudity, but the comics do.
