THIS... What the fukk? What comic book didn't have corny jokes and silly shyt going on. They were fukking COMIC books. They really didn't start on this "dark, gritty" tip until the 90s and even then, it was only certain series. It wasn't graphic novel time, 100% of time.. And even in graphic novels, they still have a shytload of corny ass jokes

DC and Marvel started doing the darker stuff in the 1980s. Comics were definitely not jokey during that dark and gritty era outside of certain joke titles.

I think the issue is that when they get serious it is very good but a lot of times they'll kill it with a lame joke.
