There have been instances where illegal immigrants were automatically registered to vote. This new voting bill will automatically register everyone to vote without citizenship checks, leaving it up to voting agencies to verify legal voting status. It seems like a bad idea.

There have been “instances” of people voting dozens of times. Its a minute, irrelevant fraction of votes in any election, and these people are prosecuted.

There is a movement by the GOP to limit Black votes, and I can see how these bills will help Black voters in the South. However, I don't understand why they've set up automatic voter registration with no citizenship proof. Seems like they should change the bills to require that proof.

Yeah, but it's nothing new. There's already 19 states that have automatic voter registration, and hardly any of them require proof of citizenship. At the same time, there's not much proof of significant voter fraud, and some are arguing that voter id laws might be doing more harm than good. It's easy to commit voter fraud, but apparently it's in small numbers,
