It’s just funny to me that men routinely gaslight women about their fears of stranger men and yet it’s a “hee hee ha ha” common joke for a dad to “get/buy the gun” when he has a daughter.

Like, men are *not* delusional about how dangerous men CAN BE which is why they’re extra protective with their wives and daughters.

No one says it’s all men or even most men, but it’s enough that it warrants extra precautions and heightened situational awareness for the average woman. And they know this. They’d never want their daughter in the woods alone with a stranger man and they’d feel significantly more comfortable with their daughter running into a stranger woman, but they won’t interrogate *why* because they’ll have to confront the truth about the male demographic.

Many women feel like they’d rather risk being killed by a bear than subjected to the worst of what a man could possibly do. It is what it is.
