The casual way in which Mace Windu murked Jango Fett doesn't get the appreciation it deserves

Windu really was a bad motherfukker, His saber skills were so unmatched anyone else who tried to copy his style fell to the darkside
My favorite character in any of the sequels that I actually watched and it isn't even close.

That Purple
That was pure SLJ's doing too. His two stipulations for agreeing to the role was that he'd get a purple lightsaber and his death would be epic.

I agree that Mace definitely got the edge on Palp, but I always thought he showed poor judgement on the lead up to it. With the crucial information that Anakin gave him, he should've either verified if what Anakin said was true, or simply just sat on it until Yoda, Obi-wan, or any other more powerful and competent council members returned. Mace probably would've had an entire week to plan out a strategy with the war being over, and the "ball" essentially being in their court now.

Palp's essentially would've been fukked unless he makes a move (which the Jedi would suspect with the "truth" out) or Anakin somehow turns (which is less likely since Mace in this hypothetical scenario trusted his word, instilling more trust between him and the Jedi).

Yeah, I get plot progression and everything, but for a seasoned Jedi Master to make such a rash and dangerous decision will always have me :snoop:

This is blaming Mace for Anakin's fukk up again. There is only one person in that room who made a rash decision and that's "What have I done? ANAKIN.

Wait a week? Yoda and Obi-Wan are DOLO in the middle of armies that BOTH answer to Palpatine while Mace has the remaining Jedi with him. You say that the war was over, but Anakin basically just told Mace "the war isn't over at all because Grievous answered to PALPATINE". The war was very much still on.

The ONLY choice Mace had was to confront Palpatine, which is exactly why Palpatine CHOSE to reveal himself to Anakin. In what universe do you think the Sith Lord who orchestrated the entire Clone Wars will allow Yoda and Mace to link up again :mindblown:

Also, this entire reasoning ignores that Mace DID HIS JOB. He confronted Palpatine and defeated him. Again, Mace's DIRECT parallell is LUKE. Who went to CONFRONT Vader and Palpatine one to one instead of hanging back with the rebels because Obi-Wan and Yoda told him that was his duty as a Jedi.

The only difference is that Anakin finally makes the right decision which he should've made 24 years earlier.

Mace letting Palpatine off the hook for any minute longer than he did would've absolutely been the wrong decision to make. Just like Luke not going to confront Vader would've fukked everything up in Jedi.

The whole Mace/Anakin/Palps shyt rhymes with Return of the Jedi.

What’s all this Mace uses the dark side stuff you guys are talking about? I don’t remember this in the shows or the movies.
The saber fighting style he uses is Form Vii Vaapad which uses his inner darkness for combat. He never dabbled in the dark side of the force unless I am missing something.

Vapaad is something that came from the novels. Disney has kept it in the cannon.

It's a lightsaber style that basically uses the force users dark force energy and converts it into light. Whereas 99% of the Jedi try to control the darkside within them and keep it under lock and key. Vapaad Jedi basically open up that chest but manage to not fall to the darkside. Mace had a few padawans who tried to adopt this and 2 of them couldn't handle it. KANAN from the Rebels show is of the Mace lineage and kind of does this as well but he was never properly trained (so Ezra is kind of the Mace lineage as well).

It explains, not in the movies because this isn't a Lucas thing, why Mace was the perfect Jedi to take down Palpatine. He basically used his own dark force AND Palpatine's to overpower him.

It also explains why Mace never took any shyt and had 0 real losses, because he was a real one who did the impossible.

The episode III novel has an interesting way of acknowledging this. It explains that Palpatine basically realizes while he's losing that Mace is using his power against him (Mace being able to do this is described as him sensing a SHATTERPOINT in the force). Palpatine takes advantage of this and uses it to cloud Mace from sensing that Anakin is about to turn on him.

Right before Anakin betrays Mace Palpatine tells him sth like "Fool, you think that's my fear you're sensing?". This confuses Mace and in that second Anakin yells "I need him to save Padme!" And chops off his hand. The last thought Mace has before getting blasted out of the window was "Padme? Why?" :wow:. The novelizations of the movies are the only books lineread by Lucas himself.

SHATTERPOINT is also the name of a novel that focuses on Mace during the Clone Wars and one of his padawans falling due to Vaapad. It's technically a legends story now until Disney acknowledges it as part of their new canon as well. Vapaad definitely is.

:ohhh: Now I need a Mace Windu animated Disney+ trilogy. This is good stuff here.
