There's nothing to learn if the writer is talking about reparations...dat word got the whole article kicked to the bushes for me...its not serious...if dats the solutions that our thinkers are coming up with then this is another lost decade for us...
He is talking about reparations
his case for it is strong
the case for it is strong
it has always been
everyone needs to be aware of "reparation shaming" and stop fearing that word
and you need to deal with it

The whole article is cliché...talking about reparations in 2014 is a joke...dats what's really holding us back...I wouldn't discount that the white man put the writer up to it to distract us..

This guy is a st0rmfr0nt agent 100%

@BarNone please ban this guy from HL... I've never been more certain of someone being a fake black person in my life. Just read his posts in this thread. Look at his use of "dat" here and there. Someone would really use an apostrophe in wouldn't and the accent in cliche however he uses the fukking word DAT?

The issue of reparations seems to really be rubbing homeboy the wrong way for some strange reason.

But I have a sneaking suspicion he'd be singing a different tune at the thought of cutting off the 3 billion dollars a year in welfare dollars that the U.S. taxpayer sends over to his cave monkey brethren in ish-rael and make them pay back the 150 Billion in total of "our" money they've wasted and let em pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

Yeah, I tossed him out of this thread. I need to print this article out so I can comment more fully, and we can begin to dissect certain parts.

A strong portion of the article focuses upon Jim Crow and the Northern variant of it. Many of those people who suffered from that are still alive. What arguments do anti-reparations people have to give reparations to those who suffered from Jim Crow, blockbusting and redlining who are still alive?

i agree that some sort of reparations are owed

but the obvious obstacles imo is that you would have to verify who actually descended from the slaves who did the work. and then the reparations would have to come from those who benefited from the work (and yea, i know the country as a whole did)

for example, my ancestors got off the boat in 1900. i dont owe anyone a fukkin cent of my money, regarding reparations from slavery. i dont even have any money that was passed down

They can look at census, tax records, immigration documents to determine who is descended from slaves.

you are still going to slavery period to look for injury
ANYONE with black skin in the post-bellum US suffered from the morass white supremacy
and the injuries were generational
every facet of American society you can think of, it was there
housing
education
entrepreneurship
environment
entertainment
psychological health
consumership
and so on
If you had black skin you were under attack and it was so pervasive because of wide sweeping institutional policies
heck it continues today
just look at the stats in the "justice system"
undeniable shyt we just live with (we use weed as much as white people, but we get arrested at 6 times the rate for it, WTF, this is a reality, we just live with today, like zero fukks are given)

The more I read about that period the more I wonder how the hell we made it out of there at all
we have plenty of scars and open wounds because of it though and that is the point of reparation: TO STOP ANY FURTHER INJURY AND AND ANY SEQUELAE FROM PREVIOUS INJURIES

(not yelling btw)

frankly, it's not like reparations have never been done before
there is historical precedence available to analyze
the important step at this juncture is the recognition of the moral and existential problem as well as the complete seriousness of this issue to the lives of pigmented people, not doing this is part of the racism problem. Considering our ease in the face of the racial stats of the legal system, we are damn near the point where we are tacitly accepting of an apartheid system for African Americans.
