I think we're all in agreement that the proliferation of the Mike Leach coaching tree and the associated Air Raid offense really took the Big12 away from the more conventional styles played by the rest of the country.

I also think it has hampered Texas' rebuilding efforts as QBs and WRs are looking to make a name at Air Raid schools and put up crazy stats instead of thinking about joining UTs ranks in a "normal" system.

The high flying style of play is a great equalizer though. Really gets the most out of the available talent.

I honestly don't know what the conference can do to be more competitive nationally given the talent levels and style of play.
There's really nothing it can do. They are just going to have to hope Texas and OU are both good at the same time.

Most of the top recruits that have gone to the SEC since 2011 would have been at Texas or OU right now. Texas and OU both knew that A&M going to the SEC benefits the rest of the SEC more than it benefits A&M. A&M was too stupid to realize that.

Tbf a&m has recruited at a much much higher level since the move to the sec then ever before but their coach is a much better salesman then coach

That was going to happen. But Alabama, Auburn, fukkin Ole Miss never had the success in Texas like they are having now in recruiting and Bama is taking recruits away from A&M. That's to be expected because Bama is the best program right now though. Even Arkansas was thrilled with it because they now got back into Texas after leaving the SWC in 1990. Only LSU was the team that recruited Texas heavily before A&M got into the SEC.

Oh and OU and Texas aren't breaking up, period. There were never any intentions to do so. They are business partners. If OU can ditch OSU and Texas can ditch Tech, you could see them both in the B1G. However, that won't happen. So the Pac 16 option is still out there and I for think it is.

this year

michigan also annihilated your division champion :jbhmm:

The only non-LSU Louisiana school that would be considered is Tulane.

I read that in the article but shyt Tulane just lucked out by playing in the Superdome, if Tech was playing in independence stadium in Shreveport they'd be the major sports team there and in my opinion would be the better choice.
