I don't understand why you would want it to be fair system, the chaos and the debate is how college football stays relevant all year. The fact that you now care about an Ohio State Indiana game means everything has worked perfectly.

Does the nfl season need trickery to stay relevant? No. Neither does college football. College football is the biggest revenue maker in a lot of these cities and some states.
