So according to the CFP committee the Mountain West Conference is better than the Big 12

why? lol

I dont know how many football teams there are, but trying to schedule teams all willy nilly for 12 games wont work.

Conferences work. I dont care who cries about it.

if the SEC just wanna break off and play their own league, so be it. get the fuhk on. Their champion can then play the winner of our playoffs.

They are the only ones crying about the setup.

There is no reason to talk about college football other than who gets left out the playoffs/BCS. What kind of discourse do you miss having exactly?
:comeon: Cmon now

Also a lot of the fukkery that the more casual fan enjoys would still be there. It would just be noise tho. There was always debate for debate sakes, way back to the OG system. The #3 team with 1 loss should be ahead of the #2 team who’s undefeated, or what about undefeated Army, etc. But that noise was isolated. Now it’s just fukkery left and right

What do you mean conferences work. They don’t even exist anymore forreal :heh: They USED to work when you could generally expect an even playing field from one P5 to the next (with the inherent knowledge that the SEC was better)

But now it’s a complete shytshow why are we even still saying ‘power 5’. It’s the SEC and Big 10 then everyone else. I just looked up the ACC standings and not miami, not Clemson, SMU is in first :wtf::bryan::laff:

Yet winning that conference is GUARANTEED a playoff spot. Same for the sorry ass big 12. It’s make believe. Them, BYU, Indiana. It’s like a boxer who fights tomato cans to get 30-0. Take out conferences and they would be forced to prove themselves at LEAST a few times.

And to answer the ‘how’ of doing it, keep the conference alignment as a formality but reduce the mandatory games. Instead of 8 or 9 conference matchups, make it 4 or 5. That way you can keep the symbolism of a conference but add in some meaningful opponents

CFB isn't about parity or an even playing field. It's just a pageant for big state schools.

The way it SHOULD work: auto bids for EVERY conference champ. Rank them #1 to #9 using any criteria you want.

From there, you have 3 at-large spots and a committee can use whatever criteria they want. Notre Dame and any other independent would be locked into the #9 seed at best if they're having a good year.

We don't need 4 SEC & 4 Big 10 teams in a 12-team tournament. Why even play games if you're just going to stack the deck? Might as well just create a formula based historical success, alumni $$$, recruiting ratings etc., and pick the national champ in September.

But the SEC/Big 10 rarely plays the Big 12 or SEC consistently. All of it is rhetoric. Half of the SEC has for losses. Every conference is top heavy. And don’t get me started on the big 10. At the end of the day, none of these conferences play each other enough to conclude one is better than the other to the point 2 should always get the benefit of the doubt. Vanderbilt had a QB from New Mexico St. that came in and beat Alabama in his first year.

Not everybody. Just the posers. Your IU’s, BYU’s, etc

The Bamas and Georgia’s of the world their schedule would get easier. Which they deserve. No way in hell Georgia should be playing Bama, Texas, Clemson, Ole Miss, and Tennessee in one season while Boise gets credit for LOSING their one tough game Oregon. It’s a fukking joke

Makes it even funnier when you remember that Georgia beat Oregon 49-3 last year :snoop:

It's crazy that this is considered wild when every other level of NCAA football from FCS to D3 has a playoff spot for every conference champion included.

There are a few conferences that don't go (Ivy, MEAC, SWAC) for their own reasons, but there is a spot for every conference champion.

Seeing as how they just came up with a playoff format, they'll probably need to expand the playoffs up to 30 teams before they let every conference have a shot.
