I knew about it, but as I got older, I noticed it was mostly the south that got us our freedom, and dignity, while the north, and west, just focused on image. I guess that's why the south is coming up way more then the north or south. Look at Tyler Perry's studios, that could have easily happened somewhere up north with all the land , and talent, in NYC but we were focused on getting hired, and looking successful, but no real ownership.

a branch of my family(uncles/aunts and cousins) were like this, they were upper class.

They looked down on black southerners that just migrated to their area and those people involved their own family.

mfs turned their nose up at their own. lol

These are the same type of individuals that try to speak for the group as a whole, but as you see, it’s clear they don’t really care about anyone they deem “beneath” them and only care for self and others that got it like they do.

They are all in black politics, black media, etc

Although Southern migrants often had friends and relatives living in the North, they were not always welcomed by the African-American population that had been living there for generations. Sometimes black Northerners believed the newcomers to be unsophisticated, loud, superstitious, and uneducated. Many felt that they reinforced stereotypes of black people. In New York, elite African Americans founded the Sons of New York in 1884 to publicly mark their distance from the Southerners.
AAME :

The AA community in Houston has always been made up of significant contributions of people from out of town and state. Plus, there was never any distinctly 'black elite' community in H town(no riverside terrace doesn't count). But, I have read that there in the 20s to 40s there were some 'differences' between the the francophone catholic creole AAs from southern louisiana and the non-creole anglophone protestant AAs mostly from rural east TX particularly in 5th ward.

Whatever it was it must've blew off quickly within the first generation, because the vast majority of us native black houstonians have mixed rural east tx and rural southern la heritage.

Plus the mixing of those two (sub)cultures gave us zydeco and southeast tx bbq and the rest of this crazy cowboy creole culture.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.

what does Tyler Perry studios who pays him personally have to do with black people?

The south is still the poorest region in America and black people down there are struggling equally like black folks everywhere.

The south is the poorest region because its full of blacks, but there is also blacks who live a descent life with not much money. It isn't like that in the north where it ways more separation, adn a lower quality of life IF you have a family. If you are single the north is the shyt!

As far as Tyler Perry's studio, most of the money that has been made in Black America when it comes to Millions has been in sports & Entertainment, the fact that we never owned a studio is troublesome. How do you think Jewish people got their money? They went to Hollywood, and owned the studios, then funneled that money into other stuff. Now that we do have our own black studios, you know how many people will be employed in the south? Its not just actors, its producers, directors, electricians, and so much more, its studio NOT a movie. its bigger then all of the studios in Hollywood combined! I personally think the fire that hit it was done on purpose, but that is me throwing out conspiracies.
