Agreed. Kylo Ren is a terrible character.

He doesn't even have a believable reason for turning to the dark side. Maul was raised that way, Dooku was sick of the Republic's corruption, Anakin wanted to save Padme, etc. Why the fukk did Kylo Ren turn to the darkside?

The only reason the movies really give is that Snoke told him to and he was mad at Luke


Rey is definitely overpowered but if you ignore power levels she's not a terrible character. Could've been good with better writers.

Luke trying to kill him was so out of character.

Anybody who would turn evil that fast was never suited to be a Jedi to start with.

If he just quit the Jedi I could understand (same with Dooku or Anakin). But joining a fascist regime and murdering a bunch of people (including his own dad)?


Nothing Luke did justifies him trying to be the next Darth Vader.

It's definitely out of character for OG Luke. But people change as they get older, if they had written it better I could buy Luke getting more cynical over time. He was never perfect.

My biggest issue with Luke in that movie was that weak ass lightsaber fight with Kylo Ren and the lame way he died. Fukk a force projection, somebody should've physically forced Luke to leave that planet. With Luke Skywalker returning they should've gone all out on an epic lightsaber battle.

He's not even a real villain, much less a Sith. He's a petulant teenager with Force abilities.

No strategy, no cunning, no focus, predictable, not even any feeling of menace to his presence. That is not Sith. If Hux wasn't also a useless bag of inertia he'd manipulate Darth Kyle whenever he wanted.

I don’t get what’s going on in the world.

I thought the first 2 eps was straight.

they seemed to think "fukk it, the core audience will always be there, let's reach out to the other demographics" which is fine in theory, and smart... but the core audience seems dead nowadays. they took the og fans for granted.

The problem is trying to cater to demographics that do not give a damn about Star Wars unless they are attached to someone in the core demographics. Problem is the core demographic is starting to not care about the IP anymore.

Has anyone here besides me actually read the High Republic novels? I might have a different perspective on this show than a lot of y'all l. I have yet to watch the show though I was gonna wait and binge it all when they are all released.

Nah, Luke at the time was literally trying to revive the Jedi. He was training kids, preserving the texts etc. He then gets a feeling of such overwhelming evil, an evil that would fukk around and kill all them kids and destroy all the jedi again that he was shook.

But he ended up creating a self-fuffilling prophecy. Because that act is what actually pushed Kylo over the edge.

Outside of that shytty casino sequence, TLJ was a good exploration of the failures of the jedi and their way of thinking.


This is why I'm interested in this show so much. Not because of just the heyday of the Jedi....but how many seeds of that hubris were there even 100-200 years ago?
