i didnt even know the law worked that way...i thought the only way an accomplice could get charged with murder is if the person they with murders someone...are they saying it was a crime for that kid to get himself killed?...there isnt even a murder in this case because another court said the shooting/murder was justified (a reasonable doubt?)...he might not have been able to appeal if he took that plea...he might have a shot at getting out a lot sooner...im guessing because i only know law from tv and movies:francis:...

Felony murder, someone gets killed during your pursuit of a felony, even if you didn't pull the trigger, you can get charged with the murder.

We are well aware of the legal system and how it works. I know that you can be charged for the death of an accomplice.

However, you have to ask yourself at what point is that appropriate to be applied and will it be productive or counter productive.

People have forgotten the point of carrying out a sentence or the intention of punishment. It is rehabilitation and correction to make sure the individual, once released, can become a productive part of society. That's how it's SUPPOSED to be. That is not the case in this country. And I will assume that I won't have to go into details, regarding why pushing prisoners for longer sentences is beneficial for prisons, to you.

Yea you can get charged with felony murder if you run from the police in a car, you or the cop get into an accident and somebody dies :francis:

It’s one of them fukked up situations were nobody wins like a dui “accidental” death charged like a murder. None of the shyt was intentional but at the same time breaking into people’s homes with an armed group ain’t really settin yourself up for success.

Don’t know who advised him against taking he plee, especially if he didn’t have to do 100% of the 25 time served which, from what I get outta the article he wouldn’t have.

if he was a full grown adult i wouldn't trip but, he's still a kid:damn:. this just isn't fair and this quote

Even if it was a full grown adult I'd still think that amount of time is excessive. Granted I don't know what a fair sentence would be in this situation but it damn sure ain't 65 years.

You better educate yourself on the law...

If you drive the getaway car...and the police shoot into the car...and kills one of your homies...

You are liable for his death because if it wasn't for you assisting him in the crime, he wouldn't be dead.

So the police isn't legally responsible...you are. The cop is doing his job.

Which is why...don't do crimes with your friends...like all the old heads use to say...if you gonna do a crime...do that shyt by yourself...there's no snitches and no legal liabilities besides you...

He and his group of friends armed robbed two homes and got into a shoot out with the cops and someone died...

Like it would be different...if they robbed two homes and got caught...and gave themselves up but the police was on some trigger happy shyt and started shooting on sight.

The punishment is justified.

Getting your friends killed in the pursuit of a crime is some fukked up shyt.

Kid shouldn't be tried as an adult though...now that's fukked up.

The system needs to be changed.

Does he deserve jail time? Of course. What he did was deplorable and he needs to serve out a sentence.

Is this sentence reasonable? No. It's excessive and plus he was 15 when it happened. This country does not try to educate our youth through punishment, they want us to suffer.

Why feel sorry for someone that knows the consequences of their actions.
