Hollywood doesn’t make stars, they make movies. Fans make stars. And in a world where anyone can be a star now sitting in front of a camera, movies are about suspending belief and creating a world for people to lose themselves in. That’s about the story and the character. Being a “movie star” is not gonna sell the film anymore just because “so and so is in it”. There had to be more focus on the roles than there were on the stars. He took the wrong thing from the right observation.

Exactly

Stars still exist, but not as concentrated because there are so many avenues to stardom

It could be argued that are more small(phone) screen stars that big ones

I was getting ready to say he was wrong because QT is pretentious as fukk but nah. He's right and it's hard to argue when the actors in the movies themselves say it.

Bullshyt, Robert Downey Jr, Ryan Reynolds, Chadwick and Hugh Jackman gave legendary performances and so far none of the characters have been recasted
They were stars before those movies. On top of that. Alot of their other movies don't do well. Chadwick and Reynolds may be the only ones on that list who can generate outside of their marvel characters. Maybe Hugh.

The Cumberbatch slander won't be tolerated. He was Sherlock Holmes. The MCU helped but they're were stars before. Same for RDJ, MBJ bettany, bale etc. Yes the MCU helps some stars but you knew Madden and Harrington before the eternals. Chris Pratt was in several tv shows and movies, it's why he got casted as star lord and for JW. SJ was a bad cast for GIS
RDJ wasn't a star before Marvel. He was damn near a character actor and was known more for his drug fukkery in the early 2000s.

Who the fukk knew who Paul Bettany was before Vision? Who the fukk knows who Paul Bettany is now?:mjlol:

First I don't think MoS broke the franchise, it was a decent start to their universe.

Second, Henry cavil as superman kinda proves his point. The issues with MoS was due to how superman was written, not the actor playing superman.

Another example would be amazing spiderman where Andrew played arguably the best portrayal of spiderman, but the only thing people can remember about those movies is how trash they were. It's like Garfield's acting job had no impact on the reception of those movies.
Acting wise Garfield was the best Spiderman.

Well B Jordan was in Black Panther, and he also is the star of a franchise called Creed, so once again Tarantino is wrong

he's made because obody wants to watch his flabby and sick movies

Scorcese and Tarantino are flabby and sick, all their shyt was always over hyped in the 90s, young people today do not give a fukk about them or their artsy movies

either evolve and make something new people want to see, or shut up
You used one actor to prove your point, so that means you are automatically right :ehh:

I don't think Quentin is wrong but times have changed its not the 90's early 2000's anymore. Also like someone else said we still have movie stars that outshine the super hero role in some ways. Sam Jackson, Downey JR granted some of these people were Hollywood stars before they were super heroes.

In 2022, almost 2023, the movie star is nearly extinct.

The days of people packing out theaters to see a movie solely because a specific actor is leading it are pretty much over. Social media and streaming changed the game.
The 'movie stars' are now social media influencers. MrBeast can draw crowds which would eclipse Tom cruise in his hay days.

He has a point....I like comic movies. I don't think I like the actors in any other role other than their comic role.
I don't think I have enjoyed any other Robert Downey Jnr movies.

Regular actors are no longer 'famous' at least in comparison

Marvel made me a fan of RDJ, Chris Evans, Hemsworth, even Chad Boseman. I also became a fan of Si Limu.

I wasn't checking for any of them until they were in Marvel.

Marvel made them stars. They're getting paid more for other roles due to becoming stars with Marvel.

I agree, but thats a good thing imo. Hate when a story is catered too heavily around the actors and not the characters
Fox made this mistake with Jennifer Lawerance as mystique.
Basically my feelings. It should be about the story not the players within. I will follow an actor because I think they pick good projects not because of their star power.
Let's see who is in this for the work and not the fame.
