"Chris Evans is the clear standout of the two (not to put de Armas’ performance lower than his, but she doesn’t have the same screen presence as him), being a perfect damsel-in-distress with an excellent delivery of “I’m a farmer!” The hardest thing to accept about Evans’ performance is that he’s trying to convince us that he is, in fact, the damsel-in-distress in this situation, even though we know that there’s a super soldier underneath that farmer’s skin."

I agree that these superheroes sell themselves same with other characters based on an established property but I don't think it's just marvel that is killing the movie star. I think social media plays a roll. There are more avenues to become famous now day. Children would rather grow up to be tik tokers, twitch streamers and youtubers more than they'd want to be actors and actors on social media behave as if they're beholden to the public because they express some opinion and now they got a legion of haters keeping tabs trying to ruin them. I really feel like Leonardo DiCaprio is one of few actors who have that movie star mystique and partly because he doesn't go on social media defending himself he just does movies and whatever he wants.
