The prices for the subs are going to adjust. They'll have to. I forget what actor it was but it may have been a couple of months ago and he was explaining why most movies aren't even made any more. Certain types of genres. I wanna say it was Matt Damon. Essentially it's just cost prohibitive because people just won't go see them. But those movies could be made if you bring them to a subscription service. I don't think the industry can sustain itself if it can ONLY rely on the 2 or 3 Marvel movies and their equivalent each year. Theaters would need a more well rounded catalogue, but if people don't go to the theater, then what do you do? Eventually there will be enough movies that hit subscription services, and you find a balance with content, price, and the number of services, where the industry can make profit. The only holdouts at that point is the big blockbuster. At that point they'll have no choice.
I can't find the article at the moment, but there was a major director, like Spielberg or someone talking about how the future of the theater will be far different than what it is today. Where there are far fewer movies shown, and those that do get shown will be more of a big event. Almost like a theme park experience. Who knows if it will turn out exactly that way, but if people like that see it coming, then it's probably coming.
