What's better the books or TV show?
The books are good but I think I like the show more so far just because it looks like (and I am crossing my fingers on this) that characters I like will fare better on the show than they did in the books.

Unless they plan on doing a lot of flashbacks later on I'mma say the books because they left a lot of Julia's story out. Mainly the beginning when she was first trying to find other magicians. They sped past a lot of storyline. It's some other stuff they left out too.

The headmaster at the school is black, but he's really the only main character who is. A couple of the main characters are Indian/bi-racial and the women on the show are

And Garcelle Beauvais is a potentially recurring character on the show; I have heard conflicting things about whether she'd be back for Season 2.
Syfy is showing the uncensored version of the first season on Syfy On Demand and the Syfy app.
Syfy will have them available till December so I think I am going to go back and watch the entire season to see if being uncensored makes it demonstrably better.
