The Devil's Advocate
Call me Dad
We're at 11, damn near the amount of characters in Infinity War, and we're two years from it coming out, and it's the intro movie...We're at like 11.
There have been movies with origin stories that failed.
I saw Alec Baldwin get his powers in the Shadow.
Steel, Hulk, Catwoman, Jonah Hex, Green Lantern, Fantastic Four, and Morbius all had origin stories.
No one bases their decison to see a movie or not on whether there is an origin story.
Has nothing to do with seeing his comeup and morso Joaquin putting on an amazing performance.
Some say Tom Holland is the best Spiderman and we didn't see him get bit by the spider.
We didn't see Keaton going through training but his portrayal is loved so much that DC hoped that his inclusion in the Flash would cover up the flaws of the movie.
They just announced that the first three Holland's were his origin story and just now, with nobody knowing who he is and Aunt May dying, it's about to be the continue forward
Notice all the origin movies that sucked was long ago and not in the DCEU or MCU...
Again, they don't base their decisions... But if you pick a character, 9 times out of 10, their best movie is the origin one.. And it's not because "the origin" but moreso you get CONNECTED and CARE about the characters when you see the beginning.
Why is Keaton still loved so much? We saw him from inception.. We saw Joker kills his folks.. We saw why he does it. We see what fuels him... And even though he only got 2 movies out of 4 and they tanked that series and we got a better Batman series with Nolan.... They go right back to the origin character for most of us, to CONNECT and make us CARE.
Again.. This is story writing and character writing 101
