It's barely more than the mid=level, so yes lol.
I don’t think he is worth the mid level:hubie:

He avg 4 pts in the playoffs, and 9 in the regular season on a team that had KD sucking in all the gravity. That should be barely a second contract money.

I could be wrong but I think this is is a overpay. At most this at 2 years would be more justifiable. Maybe make the third year a team option.

Anyhow this is all stupid. Ayton has the makings of a beast. Them losing the finals had more to do with them having no reliable subs for him than actually him. They should have tried to throw the bag at another defensive big to shore up their avenger rotation.

But they just paid 2 guys almost the equivalent of a max contract that Ayton would of got. So he’s not cheaping out. Looks like they really believe he isn’t worth a max.

They were going to have to pay Bridges anyways, so his contract has nothing really to do with Ayton getting his minute. The Shamet one doesn't either even if it was unexpected. Sarver just doesn't want to have to pay the luxury tax to keep the team together and whether Ayton gets the max or not isn't going to change that aspect.

Yeah but trade bridges then, they could probably get something really good for him. Either young players or Picks. He’s a great ancillary piece but wouldn’t make a team “good” by himself. Ayton walking is going to make everything they do harder.

3&D wings are hard to come by in the NBA though, so if you have one then you pay what it takes to keep him. Theoretically, this could all be a moot point as he's a RFA next season anyways, so they can match any offer that a team gives him. If you want to compete as a contender, then you have to spend money and dip into the luxury tax.

Even Denver came to that realization and broke the bank for MPJ and Gordon plus Jokic looming supermax and they're a small market team themselves.

If he goes out there and puts up 18-20 and 12 boards a night then he will get a max offer. From Phoenix or another team but it's coming.

Maybe this is some sort of weird motivational exercise, but this is still absurd to me. He already deserves a Max.

If your Ayton, do you sign a max with another team with Phoenix having the ability to match or accept the qualifying offer with the ability to choose your next destination plus free agency money and the cap rising in year or 2?

Before the Demarcus Cousin decision in NO i would choose the latter but seeing his career playout since, Ayton better take that money while requesting a trade....

sarver is a clown but ayton is kinda suspect :manny:
I'm a Suns fan, but I agree with you.Up until his playoff run this year, I was eagerly anticipating the day we traded him.I've watched damn near every game since he came into the league.I've seen this man sleep walk through games/look disinterested 80% of the time.People who only watched the playoff run got him gassed up.Trust me.I know this squad.I remember arguing with people who thought Kelly Oubre was good/"too important to the team culture" to let walk away.Had me thoroughly disgusted because I knew Kelly had the most narcissistic game in the league next to Westbrook..With less talent. When you watch these guys on an every game basis, you pick up on things that go beyond the stat sheet.Honestly, I wouldn't care if we traded him.
