No one ever said that, mad titan talking to himself

he may be referring to whichever thread it was with the debate of E3 being pure garbage with no Sony. Not sure. Clearly don't agree, but whatever.

There was a couple of threads of guys here and also online in general saying we don't need E3, that it's a big commercial, and it lost it's value after being open to the public.

We don’t need E3. Apple and Nintendo and Sony to a lesser extent have shown y’all the way.

the 90s is over. Dont need a trade show to reach people anymore.

I like having a big time for gaming in the summer and one in the winter (the game awards) but now that all the conferences are digital it just doesn’t make sense that it has to be E3 specifically. There’s no more showroom floor and stages and whatever.

So the reason E3 is needed is because its truly a all eyes on event.

These showcases (outside of nintendo) for Sony and microsoft people don't want, or don't care about most games if it isn't some Triple A game or some trailer for big up coming game.

On top of that is a chance for these dev's and publishers to show off there games in a "neutral" state instead one Nintendo, PS or Xbox and instantly have consumer bias, rumors or hate floating around.

E3 allows for a big celebration over multiple days from all companies for indies, A, AA, and triple A games. Everyone gets play time under a big umbrella if they choose to participate.

It also takes the stress off devs to know that really the only big even they need to nail is once a year at E3 instead of updating fans continually with digital events, and progression on games they are working on.

Devs have actually gone on record saying that E3 puts an insane amount of pressure on them and requires a lot of resources in order to create a trailer/vertical slice for the presentation

who was saying no need for E3?
I still don't think E3 is needed anymore. I think companies are better off doing their own digital presentations when they have something of substance to show.

When the world was less connected E3 was needed. Retailers and gaming media would gather to get that info and disperse it to the public. Now almost everything leaks. Also if E3 was so necessary why is the market leader absent again? Clearly they took a look at it and decided they didn't need it.

Now imagine having to do that at random sometime throughout the year instead of knowing a target date of late may-july

Nintendo has shown the way. Let the devs do their thing and when the time is right make presentations. Could be quarterly or semi-annually.
The state of plays and Xbox events and Nintendo directs work well for the big wigs. They have there stuff, plus other devs under there umbrella.

But I'm not sure fans nor would a lot of publisher be cool with a direct from say capcom that showed two or 3 games

I mean look at what sega just did... The hype for that came and went and I personally have no interest in getting updates and drip feed sonic info, Yakuza info or persona info throughout the year from sega directs...

Just have something for E3, TGS, and maybe the game awards and call it a wrap
